There were exactly 64 players in the league with 8 teams and 8 on each team. I had the pleasure of watching the Elite-8, Final-4 and Finals on Sunday.
Unfortunately I missed watching some of the players as they had prior AAU commitments they had to be a part of, but I saw 50+ of the 64 players.
I will do my categories that I think most of players fit in. Some of the players may have been great the other 3 days but when I watched on Sunday, they weren’t as productive, so they may not be a part of the 49.
We now lastly look at the the top passers:
Kota Benson Kota Benson 6'0" | PG Mesa | 2023 State AZ (Baboquivari) (Pictured)
-Arguably the top passer in the league made many next level passes. It is very subtle but he sees plays happen before his teammates even know they are open. He leads them to the spot they should be in. The lefty can get into the lane with a nice burst and hit shoots from mid to the 3pt line.
Styles Phipps Styles Phipps 6'1" | PG St Mary's | 2024 State #182 Nation AZ (St. Mary’s)
-He is a pure PG that is smart/crafty and can shoot off dribble. He is a two-way guard that can shoot it and defend. He had some incredible passes over the four days.
Gabe Pickens Gabe Pickens 6'0" | PG Dream City Christian | 2024 State AZ (undecided)
-Another pure PG is strong and tough. He is almost opposite from his older brother as he tries to set the table for his team and loves getting downhill. He is a capable open perimeter shooter. Whichever school he chooses, he could play varsity immediately.
Isaac Kaps Isaac Kaps 6'0" | PG Highland | 2023 State AZ (Highland)
-A scoring lead guard can make good passes in traffic and loves the mid-range jumper. He shows athleticism and doesn’t mind getting up in a guards grill and defending.
Laron Smith Laron Smith 5'10" | CG Hamilton | 2020 CA-S (undecided)
-A smaller guard but tough, fast and fearless. He can make plays for his teammates and has good open court speed.
