There were exactly 64 players in the league with 8 teams and 8 on each team. I had the pleasure of watching the Elite-8, Final-4 and Finals on Sunday.
Unfortunately I missed watching some of the players as they had prior AAU commitments they had to be a part of, but I saw 50+ of the 64 players.
I will do my categories that I think most of players fit in. Some of the players may have been great the other 3 days but when I watched on Sunday, they weren’t as productive, so they may not be a part of the 49.
We now look at the the Breakout players:
Lashy Perez Lashy Perez 6'2" | PG Apollo | 2023 State AZ (Apollo) (Pictured)
-The clear Breakout player of the league. It was my first time viewing him and he can score from all 3 levels without being a knockdown shooter. He is a very good passer and gets downhill with the best of them. He is good defensively and the Hawks seem to have a good one. He was injured towards the end of the year and that’s why he fell through the cracks of being noticed. He will be placed initially in the Top-40 or so when we update the rankings.
Carter Gittens Carter Gittens 6'5" | SF Sunrise Mountain | 2023 State AZ (Sunrise Mountain)
-A natural rebounder with an elite motor. He has one of the best motors in the class and seems to have a nose for the ball off the glass. He scores inside the paint with a nice layup package. He is a capable perimeter shooter and will be huge for the Mustangs next season.
Paul Oscislawski Paul Oscislawski 6'4" | SG Chaparral | 2023 State AZ (Chaparral)
-Another first time viewer and I came away impressed. He is a strong inside/outside forward who can carve up space inside to score plus shoot the 3 with some consistency. He has a good frame and plays really hard throughout a game. He was critical in the win vs AZ Blue in the Final-4. He will definitely be added to the new rankings.
Zach Anderson Zach Anderson 6'3" | SG Desert Mountain | 2023 State AZ (Desert Mountain)
-Known as a knockdown shooter but is definitely more then that. He handles the ball well and can take the ball to the basket and score it inside. He is still a very good perimeter shooter and will be great for the Wolves the next three years.
Leonard Romayor Leonard Romayor 5'10" | PG Ironwood | 2023 State AZ (Brophy Prep)
-He gained probably 3-4 inches over the last year and is now more competitive with the top players. He can hit 3’s plus pull-up off the dribble. He can drive it to the cup and score it with his improved athleticism. He is currently rated #72 and look for him to move up.
Jordan Taylor Jordan Taylor 6'2" | SG AZ (Buckeye)
-A first time viewer has a lot to bring to the table. He shows good activity on the court and is very disruptive on defense. He is a good athlete with nice length and can score from the perimeter and get inside the lane. He will be added to the new rankings after the summer.
