The workout was hosted collaboratively by Team Griffin’s Rod Thompson, Oklahoma Hoops Report and a handful of notable local trainers, including Feed Your Game’s Keenan Curry Jr. Here are a few standouts from the day:
Anthony Pritchard Anthony Pritchard 6'1" | PG Tulsa Webster | 2021 State OK | 2021 PG | Tulsa Webster |
A.P. had a stellar day. The craftsman was one of the most effective scorers in the gym even while tasked with playing against numerous mid-to-high-major players, proving what many of us already knew about Pritchard: he has a Division-I ceiling. His talent around the rim has come together brilliantly, and his smoothness on the drive has developed in a manner that allows him comfortably to comfortably explore his options with defenders breathing down his neck. Paired with his already fierce shooting game, it’s no wonder that’s Pritchard has assumed his status as one of the state’s most pervasive stock-risers of the past twelve months.
Kam Parker Kam Parker 6'2" | PG Booker T Washington | 2022 State OK | 2022 PG | Booker T. Washington |
Parker was playing like a point guard possessed Friday. It’s no secret that Hornets’ coach Eli K. Brown will be playing with a green lineup in 2021, but Parker appeared determined to fill his predecessors’ shoes on Friday; and he started by guarding him. Parker matched with Bryce Thompson Bryce Thompson 6'5" | CG Booker T. Washington | 2020 State #15 Nation OK for a few stretches during the workout, and he stood his ground as well as any high-schooler could. Initially, he struggled on the drive against Thompson and his collegiate counterparts. He adjusted quickly, however, and used his handles to create shot opportunities. On one sequence, he hit three 3-pointers in a row with Harden-esque maneuvers to open the door as he scored 14 in a three-minute span of pickup. He struggled, understandably, to find stops against Thompson on the consequent end of the floor but limited the future Jayhawks on a few impressive stops — again, as much or more than you could ask from a high-school junior.
Jeremiah Johnson Jeremiah Johnson 6'4" | PG Wasatch Academy Prep Class Of 2024 | 2024 GA | 2023 PG | Putnam City North |
Johnson shot the ball well Friday and handled college competition with his smooth technique and hand-work around the rim. He has hit a growth spurt over the last year while developing a game congruent to his stature, and it was apparent at the workout. Johnson is well-equipped to play a game that adapts to college-level competition, as he showcased Friday his skills to play off-ball and on, which bodes well for his ability to contribute especially to a guard-centric offense at the next level. Johnson has also improved his shot selection so that he gets what he can and doesn’t force much; again, a huge plus for a developing combo guard on his journey to playing a premier on-ball role at the next level.
