While I personally wasn’t on site at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Long Beach, the live stream set up to cast on my 50-inch Samsung TV in my office more than sufficed for evaluation purposes.
One of the games I was intrigued to watch at this event was Dream Vision 17s vs. Cali Stars as those programs each had local and regional talent on display. Below are the standouts from that game in which Cali Stars won 71-69.
Scotty Washington, Cali Stars – It was good to see Washington back on the floor after missing much of his junior season with a shoulder injury. The 6-foot-4 St. John Bosco wing looked to be in great shape and showed consistency when shooting the three-ball. Washington, who announced in the spring that he would be taking a prep year after graduating from Bosco, connected on three triples in the Cali Stars victory.
Corey Cofield, Cali Stars – One thing you can never question with Cofield each and every game is how hard he’s going to play and if he’s going to compete. Those two things are consistent parts of the 6-foot-5 wing’s arsenal and result in a high level of productivity. Cofield led Cali Stars with 24 points and scored in a variety of ways.
Josh O’Garro, Cali Stars – O’Garro is a guy who gets things done on both ends of the floor, and while his nine-point output isn’t the flashiest of stat lines, he impacts the game in multiple ways, whether it be defensively or on the glass. The 6-foot-5 lefty can guard multiple positions with his size and length, thrives in transition offensively, and continues to make strides as a shooter.
Milos Uzan Milos Uzan 6'4" | PG Dream City Christian | 2022 State #60 Nation AZ , Dream Vision – Uzan was great in the first game of Dream Vision’s Sunday double-header and carried that production over into the second game. The smooth and high IQ class of 2022 point guard finished with 24 points, hitting four three-pointers, and keeping DV within striking distance until the final buzzer.
Glenn Taylor Glenn Taylor 6'5" | SF AZ Compass Prep | 2021 State #162 Nation AZ , Jr., Dream Vision – Taylor is a beast of a wing who relies on his powerful frame and willingness to seek out contact to score in transition and half-court settings. The 6-foot-6 rising senior is a tough cover on the break because of his downhill speed and ability to absorb and finish through contact. Taylor is also a guy who can rebound the defensive glass, lead the break and go coast-to-coast for a bucket.
