Continue ReadingThe “Boss of Ball “ Showcase Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 will feature multiple Class of 2021-24 top prospects.
The showcase will be closed to spectators and limited to 40 players per session. It will be live-streamed from the Northwest Sports Hub in Centralia, WA and shared with over 200 colleges. Washington Prep Hoops has been invited to review the action in person as well as well-known national scout Gerry Freitas.
Providing the training will be Joe Callero and Jasen Basket.
Callero has been a Division 1 head coach for ten seasons and has experience coaching in the NCAA Tourney.
Basket is a veteran of the Washington Grass Roots scene. He is the founder of Emerald City Basketball and All-City Hoops.
A few players who will be attending that I am anxious to see in person again:
Class of 2021
Garrett Long Garrett Long 6'2" | PG Wenatchee | 2021 State WA 6-1 CG- Wenatchee
Best scorer I saw play last year. He has range for days, textbook form and incredibly quick release. Handles it well enough to be a point but such a deadly deep-ball shooter he will likely be featured as an off-ball threat.
Connor Drinkwine Connor Drinkwine 6'2" | SG Emerald Ridge | 2021 State WA 6-1 SG- Emerald Ridge
Plays within his role and doesn’t take bad shots- another great shooter with deep range. If he has continued to progress physically, he may be an even more sought after. He is already known to be a top high-academic prospect.
Xavier Bailey Xavier Bailey 6'4" | PG Lindbergh | 2021 State WA 6-3 PG- Lindbergh
Great size and strength for this position. Ability to finish through contact at the rim and good vision and unselfishness after drawing a crowd.
Leo DeBruhl Leo DeBruhl 6'3" | PG Seattle Academy | 2021 State WA 6-2 PG Seattle Academy
Plays with great pace- a North to South ball pusher
Jackson Dorsey 6-6 Wilson
Might be the best athlete at the Showcase- Strong, agile and great motor who impressed me at State Tourney.
Class of 2022
Maleek Arington Maleek Arington 6'3" | PG Auburn | 2022 State WA – 6-1 PG Auburn
A recent offer from Montana- Pure point guard with terrific decision making and owner of most deceptive and effective floater I have seen.
Kyle Carlesimo– 6-0 CG Seattle Prep
Heady, feisty, crafty and a great leader- He is at is best in clutch situations and I expect him to show out against top competitors
DaeKwon Watson DaeKwon Watson 5'10" | CG Auburn | 2022 State WA – 6-0 CG Auburn
Plays bigger defensively than his frame would normally allow but he is most valuable as a pure shooter with a quick release and deep three-point accuracy.
Tre Blassingame Tre Blassingame 6'5" | SG Auburn | 2022 State WA 6-5 SF Auburn
Breakout season as a sophomore who showed he can score from all spots. Has an array of offensive moves and is a match-up nightmare.
Class of 2023
Isaiah Afework Isaiah Afework 6'5" | SF Federal Way | 2023 State WA – 6-3 Wing Federal Way
Showed promise during his freshman season- definitely a tough player whose recent work-outs have increased his ball handling. Anxious to see him make a jump up to the next level.
Carson DeBruhl Carson DeBruhl 6'0" | CG Seatte Academy | 2023 WA – 5-9 CG Seattle Academy
Plays with great pace and best when playing at high-tempo.
