After a great first weekend with the Dallas Showtyme Classic, it was Great American Shootout’s turn to host a tournament at the Duncanville Fieldhouse. In the championship game for the Orange bracket, Texas Impact 4:13 defeated FOE 17U Elite 62-49.
MVP: Imo Essien Imo Essien 6'0" | PG Bishop Lynch | 2021 State TX – Texas Impact 4:13 – G
Imo Essien Imo Essien 6'0" | PG Bishop Lynch | 2021 State TX only scored eight points but his impact on this game goes way beyond the score sheet. He is a leader for his team and gets everyone involved. Essien also controlled the pace of the game and is a good floor general. He forced multiple turnovers and played good on-ball and off-ball defense.
Play of the Game: DJ Jefferson’s dunk from Sean Mathieu
In the second half, Sean Mathieu found DJ Jefferson in transition for an alley-oop slam.

Kobe Wiggins Kobe Wiggins 5'9" | PG Wylie | 2021 State TX was the bright spot in the FOE offense and finished with 19 points. He got to the basket with ease and fit multiple pull-up jumpers. He was almost impossible to stop when going downhill.
Best Defensive Performance: Rytis Petraitis Rytis Petraitis 6'6" | SG Oak Ridge | 2021 State TX – Texas
Impact 4:13 – G/F
Petraitis was the best defender on either team and made multiple big plays on the defensive end. He plays tight on-ball defense, is active in passing lanes, and contests every shot attempt. Coaches, if you need a defensive stopper, Petraitis is your guy.
Best Guy off the Bench: Calaway Dykes Calaway Dykes 6'2" | SG Decatur | 2021 State TX – Texas Impact

Even though Calaway Dykes Calaway Dykes 6'2" | SG Decatur | 2021 State TX came off the bench, he would have started on most of the other teams in the tournament. In the championship game, he showed off his shot from downtown and scored well in transition.

Imo Essien Imo Essien 6'0" | PG Bishop Lynch | 2021 State TX was the leader for Texas Impact 4:13 and makes the game easy for his teammates. He gets to the paint whenever he wants and hits his teammates in spots that they can be successful.
Best Under-the-Radar Performance: Kobe Wiggins Kobe Wiggins 5'9" | PG Wylie | 2021 State TX – FOE 17U Elite – G
If you hadn’t heard of Kobe Wiggins Kobe Wiggins 5'9" | PG Wylie | 2021 State TX , you definitely knew his name after this game. Wiggins is currently ranked as the #92 player in Texas according to Prep Hoops but he had as good of a game as anyone I saw all weekend. He gets downhill with ease and creates for his teammates. He is an all-around point guard that should not get overlooked.
Best Rebounder – Shakiru Oduwenu Shakiru Oduwenu 6'9" | C Universal Academy | 2021 State TX – FOE 17U Elite – F
Odunewu was one of the best rebounders in the tournament regardless of age and pulled everything that came off of the rim. He is extremely strong and always boxes out. No one could compete with his size and he rebounded on both ends.
