Like everyone else, I missed basketball more than ever before, and it was a pleasure to get back into the AAU atmosphere and witness competition again. The Dallas Showtyme Classic XIV put together an awesome tournament. They brought out all of the talents in the city and gave us some highly anticipated matchups with some of the top players in the state and the top teams in the metroplex. Here are a few of those players that really stood out and caught my eye this past weekend.
Jamyron Keller Jamyron Keller 6'1" | PG Killeen Ellison | 2023 State #154 Nation TX – Point Guard – Drive Nation EYBL
Jamyron Keller Jamyron Keller 6'1" | PG Killeen Ellison | 2023 State #154 Nation TX is a player that I had previously heard a lot about but never got a chance to see live in person till this past weekend, and boy was he impressive. This unbelievable physical specimen showed off his athleticism all weekend, getting up and throwing it down in transition, out leaping every one on the boards, jumping passes, and playing top-notch defense. The kid is special, there’s not a player out there like him, he’s a tank at the point guard position that can dominate his defenders with his killer speed and strength. Jamyron is the top point guard in the state and he showed us all why this weekend. He may not be nationally ranked as of yet, but he’s definitely coming for that number one spot.
Blake Muschalek – Shooting Guard – Southern Assault 15U
Blake Muschalek was a great sparkplug player this weekend, he stood out with and without the ball, finding ways to make a difference on both ends of the court the entire game. His ability to come up with offensive rebounds, keep possessions alive, and get putback layups was remarkable. When the ball was in Blake’s hands he kept the tempo up and attacked. He shot the ball well and even made tough shots in the lane with some crafty finishes. Muschalek got after it on defense as well, he picked up steals and made exceptional efforts to keep his man from scoring. All Blake Muschalek does is make plays, he’s definitely a player to keep track of this summer.
Finley Bizjack Finley Bizjack 6'5" | CG Byron Nelson | 2023 State #131 Nation TX – Shooting Guard – Southern Assualt 15U
Bizjack showed out all weekend, he put everyone on notice with his creative style of play, his outstanding footwork, and sick handles; he even looked a few steps quicker. His game worked perfectly with his teammates on both offense and defense. He did a great job of creating for himself and also distributing from the two-guard position. Finley knew where everyone was on the court at all times and he consistently found open guys in the corner or on the block. He got wherever and whatever he wanted out there and once he got hot there was no stopping him. Finley Bizjack Finley Bizjack 6'5" | CG Byron Nelson | 2023 State #131 Nation TX ’s playmaking skills are increasing and becoming very prominent. He’s more than ready to lead his team and take over the summer.
Rylan Kennedy – Forward – Texas Impact 15U
Rylan Kennedy was a game-changer this weekend, instantly making an impact anytime he stepped on the floor. His rebounding stood out, he wasn’t afraid to battle on the boards against anyone. When his team needed points, he pushed the pace and did what he could to get to the line or get a bucket. Kennedy played good defense as well, coming up with steals and contesting shots at the rim, he made it hard for even the top players to finish in the lane, he gave up nothing easy. Rylan Kennedy showed high potential, his progression throughout this summer will be noteworthy.
