The conference is full of talented lead guards who can make an impact on the next level. Here are the top 2022 point guards in the Shore Conference.
Ben Roy Ben Roy 6'2" | PG Manasquan | 2022 State #218 Nation NJ , 6’0 Manasquan
The Warriors won their second straight Central Jersey Group 2 title behind the play of Roy. The Shore Conference Player of the Year has a good handle and knows how to finish around the basket. Roy shoots the ball with extreme confidence and plays his best when the pressure is on. He is a good passer and plays solid on-ball defense. Roy was selected to Second Team All-State in 2019-20 and could replicate the feat next season with a strong junior campaign for Manasquan.
Elijah Perkins Elijah Perkins 6'4" | CG Camden | 2022 State NJ , 6’4 Ranney
Perkins emerged as the Panthers’ go-to option on offense as they had to replace McDonald’s All-American Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis. The 6’4 guard is a big-time athlete who is at his best attacking the basket as he can finish over the top of defenders. Perkins has a good handle and knows how to find the open teammate. He is one of the better defenders in the Shore Conference and is adept at getting chase down blocks. Ranney should be one of the teams to beat in the Shore Conference next season with Perkins manning the offense again.
Ryan Mabrey Ryan Mabrey 6'3" | PG La Lumiere | 2022 IN ,6’3 Christian Brothers Academy
The Colts had an up and down 2019-20 season,but they should be one of the top teams in the Shore Conference next season. Mabrey missed time due to injury, but is in store for a big junior season. The 6’3 guard is an elite shooter with a quick release and deep range. Mabrey moves well off the ball and is capable of playing both spots in the backcourt. His ability to get hot from deep makes Christian Brothers Academy a team to watch in 2020-21.
DJ Thomson DJ Thomson 6'3" | PG Keyport | 2022 State NJ , 6’2 Keyport
Thomson was one of the top scorers in the Shore Conference last season after pouring in almost 500 points in 2019-20. The dual-sport athlete knows how to finish around the basket and can make shots through traffic. Thomson has a good handle and is a capable outside shooter. He is a good rebounder and is an underrated passer. Thomson is a big-time scorer who is ready to lead Keyport to a big 2020-21 season.
Colin Ackerman Colin Ackerman 6'0" | PG Wall | 2022 State NJ , 6’0 Wall
The Crimson Knights have won the last two Central Jersey Group 3,but they will have to replace Quinn Calabrese Quinn Calabrese 6'3" | SG Wall | 2020 State NJ ’s scoring. Ackerman ran the offense for Wall last season and is ready for a bigger scoring load in 2020-21. The 6’0 guard can beat his defender off the bounce and knows how to finish through contact around the basket. Ackerman is a capable shooter from behind the arc and is a good rebounder for a guard his size. Wall needs Ackerman to up his scoring if the Crimson Knights want to win their third straight sectional title.
