Continue ReadingThe 2022 class already has a full head of steam on the recruiting trail, with over 10 players receiving D1 offers before entering their junior seasons. However, there are still plenty of talented players yet to receive an offer, and NHR details seven players who could join the list of Division One offered players in the 2022 class.
Joshua Ola-Joseph Joshua Ola-Joseph 6'6" | SF Osseo | 2022 State #166 Nation MN (6’5 2022 W, Osseo)- Ola-Joseph oozes potential with an extremely long frame and springs for legs. He finishes above the rim just as easy as some seven-footers, and uses the bounce to dominate the glass on both ends as well. Add in emerging perimeter skills and a solid outside shot, and he’s a high potential wing prospect. He emerged as a top-10 player in the 2022 class as a sophomore, and likely would have had D1 schools watching closely during the AAU season.
Malcolm Jones Malcolm Jones 6'9" | C Prior Lake | 2022 State MN (6’8 2022 PF/C, Prior Lake)- Mobile, strong, and versatile, Malcolm Jones Malcolm Jones 6'9" | C Prior Lake | 2022 State MN is among the top post players in the 2022 class. At 6’8 he likely projects as a power forward, but if he adds a couple more inches he could become a dominant center. Malcolm has touch around the rim, has a pure mid-range jumper, and hits threes when given too much space. He plays with grit and intensity on both ends and will look to prove himself to D1 schools as a junior.
Ahjany Lee Ahjany Lee 6'9" | C Byron | 2022 State #145 Nation MN (6’8 2022 F, Byron)- I see a lot of Sy Chatman in Ahjany Lee Ahjany Lee 6'9" | C Byron | 2022 State #145 Nation MN ’s game, as a long and athletic forward prospect with highlight finishing ability and defensive versatility. He’s quick enough to step out and stick with wing players on the perimeter, and has showcased timing on his shot blocking attempts. Ahjany runs the floor like a gazelle, hustling up the court leading to transition finishes. His physical attributes and developing skill-set make for an intriguing prospect.
BJ Omot BJ Omot 6'8" | PF Mankato East | 2022 State #231 Nation MN (6’6 2022 SG, Mankato East)- BJ has the looks of a player who could put together a huge junior year. He played alongside a lot of talent as a sophomore, but will be one of the lone returners for Mankato East next year. As long as they come at the guard spot, Omot adds in explosiveness and a pure shooting stroke on the offensive end. Defensively he’s versatile enough to guard a handful of spots, and is a talented shot blocker for a guard.
Nick Katona Nick Katona 6'6" | SF Shakopee | 2022 State MN (6’6 2022 W, Shakopee)- Already a high level defender, Katona was often tasked with guarding opposing teams’ top player, and coaches will be attracted to that kind of effort. Offensively Nick is such a strong finisher around the rim, attacking from the wing to score through contact. Katona also offers good size for his position, and a consistent outside jumper. He’ll take on a much bigger role as a junior next winter.
Ayden Mcdonald Ayden Mcdonald 6'4" | PG Omaha Central | 2022 State MN (6’3 2022 PG, Hibbing)- Ayden put up some of the most impressive numbers in the state as a sophomore, proving himself as one of the best passers in Minnesota, while also being a more than capable scorer. He can hit from three and has a deadly turnaround jumper from mid-range that he can hit over length. In a big game against Minnehaha Academy he proved that he’s capable of producing against some of the state’s and the nation’s best talent.
Jackson Loge Jackson Loge 6'7" | C Morris Area | 2022 State MN (6’7 2022 PF, Morris Area)- Jackson has some of the best footwork in the state, and may arguably be the top low-post scorer in the class. With a strong frame and soft touch around the rim, it’s nearly impossible for other players his size to stop him when isolated on the block. Defensively his strong frame allows him to stand his ground on the block, and he moves his feet well to reposition and contest shots around the rim.
