Levi Williams | 2021 Sequoyah-Tahlequah C | OK Hustle Black |
Wiliams, though he lacks the height advantage of other prospects at his position, was one of the best inside scorers at the event. He notched 16 points in the final game of the evening to pace his team to a 3-0 record on the weekend. He moves exceptionally well off-ball, has a high scoring iQ and returns rebounds at a high rate.
Hank Slayton | 2021 Hulbert C | OK Hustle White |
Slayton’s defensive tenacity and adherence to off-ball movers were his best attributes for the day. He was helpful to teammates on switches and tenacious at the rim. Offensively, he moves well off-ball and finishes well against contact, even converting on a pretty nasty above-the-rim play later in the day. Slayton could be a big sleeper in the stacked ’21 class.
Elijah Mason Elijah Mason 6'3" | SF Hoops for Christ | 2020 State OK | 2021 HFC Warriors PF | OK Swarm |
Mason was playing some of his best basketball to date, showcasing primarily an increased awareness in the paint, mid-range and out-passing game. He played more powerful than I’ve seen him with a focus on utilizing his iQ to seal defenders and get smart buckets.
Jaiell Talley | 2021 Broken Arrow PF | Tulsa Hawks — Drake |
Talley has serious athleticism, power and foot-work — he’s literally a receiver playing in the paint, after all. The post maverick had an outstanding weekend cleaning up numerous responsibilities for the Hawks. Whether he was gathering rebounds and getting back to the rack, denying opposing paint-scorers a chance at the rim or hitting shots from the short corner, Talley stood out in every aspect of his game.
Brandon Garrison | 2023 Del City C | Trae Young Elite (pictured above) |
Garrison’s 6-foot-8-inch frame paired with his explosive athleticism were enough alone to out-power most of the competition at the event, but he has skill as well. He will be able to get double digits from put-backs alone at the high school level, and his defensive iQ (block-selection, staying out of foul trouble, positioning, etc) are already off-the-charts for his age.
Colby Onyekuru Colby Onyekuru 6'5" | SF Edmond Santa Fe | 2021 State OK | 2021 Edmond Santa Fe SF | OK Swarm |
Onyekuru struggled early in the day, but one thing that did impress me was his exploration of the perimeter game. He was able, almost at will, to take the ball from a stationary position from the wings or corners and get to the rack, using his length and explosive power to finish near the rim. As I’ve said before, once Onyekuru’s skill adapts to make him a stretch-three, I think he could be the steal of the ’21 recruiting class.
Ryan Miller | 2021 Putnam City North C | Top Notch Blue |
Miller was a defensive menace during his latter games at the showcase. He protected the paint and kept anything near the rim from reaching its destination in a tenacious manner.
Marcell Perry Marcell Perry 6'4" | SG Southeast | 2022 State OK | 2022 PF | Oklahoma Chaos |
Perry’s tremendous athleticism and determination to score were on full-display at the showcase, while his defensive dominance was equally impressive. He’s so tough to stop now that he is coming into his own as a slasher that it’s almost unfair. Defensively, utilizing his guard-like athleticism with his inside footwork and size-advantage, he was an impassible body.
Jayden Bridgeman | 2021 Sperry PF | Tulsa Hawks — Hammon |
A dynamic play-maker and competitive defender, I got my first glimpse of Bridgeman at the showcase and I was not disappointed. He has a few impressive tools at his disposal, including his aforementioned defensive skills and great coordination when scoring around the rim and in the mid-range. That coordination further applied with developed scoring maneuvers could take his game to new heights.
Abraham Aghasedo Abraham Aghasedo 6'8" | C Edmond North | 2021 State OK | 2021 Edmond North C | Oklahoma Power |
Aghasedo was enforcing in the paint and grabbing boards at a high rate, albeit his scoring was lack-luster compared to what he is capable of (perhaps due to quarantine rust). Still, even without showcasing his best skills, he was still among the top inside prospects at the event from his clean-up play alone.
Jaelen Tucker | 2021 Tulsa Memorial SF | Tulsa Hawks |
Tucker’s game has improved in a few facets: first, he seems to move better about the low-post than he did during the regular season. Second, he has gained some explosive energy on the boards. Adding the defensive advantage he had, he was impressive to watch in contributing to what the Hawks were able to accomplish last weekend.
Sherrod Davis Sherrod Davis 6'4" | PF Del City | 2021 State OK | 2021 Del City PF | OK Swarm |
David is athletic, powerful and has a stout frame, and he used each of these attributes to his advantage. It’s no secret that his game revolves heavily around his brute strength, however, he was using his above-the-rim power to focus more on scoring than he has in the past at the showcase. Davis moves with exceptional agility given his size and hawked down opposing passes to flush on the opposite end.
Terry McMorris Terry McMorris 6'5" | SF Douglass | 2023 State OK | 2023 Del City PF | Trae Young Elite |
The young post from Del City has room to develop in his scoring game, but his 6-foot-7-inch frame is pretty solid foundation for growth. He rebounded well, defended the paint and positioned himself well to score during the showcase. I would like to see his touch to finish around the rim improve.
Jacob Mills | 2021 Coweta SF | Tulsa Hawks — Hammon |
As crafty as he is sizable, the 6-foot-6 post from Coweta defended the rim with efficient tenacity and was among the top inside defenders when it came to turning away slashing guards. His explosive athleticism aided him in these situations, primarily, while his agility was a part of the equation as well.
