It was apparent after the Main Event that Perry has practiced and polished new skills to diversify his game since his sophomore summer. The point-forward showcased his potential to play on-ball, off-ball and in the post. His stature alone could make him a legitimate prospect at the inside linebacker spot, and his agility, grace and hand-work with the ball allow him to play point guard. He took the ball to the rack almost easily last weekend, hit shots from the dribble and bullied defenders in the paint, all while maintaining a dominant rebounding and defensive presence.
6’4″ SF |
Putnam City West ’22 |
Gordon was a star of the weekend among ’22 prospects. He pretty much did it all — from taking the ball to the hole at the wing, using guard-esque handles to create separation, knocking down tough shots and fitting passes into tight opening, Gordon was playing his best basketball at the Main Event. Gordon can score the ball at each level with some efficiency, but further-developing his 3-point shot could launch him into stardom — though he already gets plenty of attention on the gridiron.
Seth Meadows | Team Buddy Buckets |
Meadows has elite iQ, and albeit, a tremendous stature. He’s on the leaner side, but he didn’t get bullied often by opposing paint-protectors. He displayed nice footwork and was exceptional as an off-ball presence in getting easy, rarely-contested shots near the rim.
Darius Moore | Next Level |
Moore will be a player to keep a close eye on next season; The standout football prospect showcased one of the most diverse skill-sets at the Main Event on Sunday. He legitimately guarded the one-through-five in the defensive side of the ball and played a pseudo-point forward role on the other end. He can get buckets with his back the basket, but he has solid control and was instrumental in facilitating the ball in transition, as well.
Mike Woolridge | Team Buddy Buckets |
Woolridge handled opposing posts with ease last weekend thanks to an outstanding triad of size, skill and athleticism. He moves better than most players his size, has no inhibitors in transition and has a diverse set of moves to utilize in the paint. He was rarely checked by opposing posts and played essentially unlimited for long stretches of play last weekend thanks to his frame and power.
Watkins displayed three-level capabilities, scoring the ball well on the drive and finishing shots with contest well. He has a developed range of separation moves from the wing, while his stature allows him to battle in the paint and elevate to finish tough shots. He even played an on-ball role on a few sequences and held his own thanks to his footwork. Developing a quicker first step may further improve his all-around guard capabilities.
