Updated 2021 Rankings: Top Point Guards

Our Class of 2021 rankings have been updated and there were definitely some notes and game film to go over in order to make our best placements for now. With that said, here’s a look at the top point guards we identified in the class. Keshawn Hall Keshawn Hall 6'0" | PG Lake Oswego | 2021 State OR , Jefferson - Ranked #12 Hall played at multiple guard spots for Jefferson this past season and was effective wherever he lined up. Offensively, the 6-foot rising senior is as best getting to the hoop and he’s especially dangerous in transition. The lefty handles the ball like a yo-yo on a string and is able to use his strength to overpower smaller opponents around the basket. We wouldn’t call Hall’s outside jumper a strength but he showed that he could knock down open shots. He’s also capable of driving and kicking and Hall’s on-the-ball defense is very tough. He’s a bit hidden on such a talented team but he’s more than capable of jumping into the top ten by next season. Roy Bunn Roy Bunn 5'9" | PG Jesuit | 2021 State OR , Jesuit - Ranked #20 Bunn was a key piece off the bench for Jesuit’s 2019 title team and did nothing but fulfill expectations being elevated into a more prominent role. The 5-foot-9 guard is adept at breaking down opponents off the dribble, specializing in drawing defenses and kicking it to the Crusaders shooters. Bunn is still a bit hesitant to take shots from the outside but he hit a decent percentage (32%) from three-point range. Defensively, there aren’t many individual perimeter defenders better in the state than Bunn. Isaiah Gilliam Isaiah Gilliam 6'2" | CG South Albany | 2021 State OR , South Albany - Ranked #21 Of the top point guards in the 2021 class, Gilliam may be the most offensive minded. The 6-foot rising senior is a power guard, bullish getting to the hoop and finishing around the rim. He finishes through contact and is able to get to the line where he’s able to convert at a decent rate (just under 70%). Gilliam is tough on the defensive glass where he’s able to grab the rebound and immediately turn to head up court coast-to-coast. There’s no question his outside shot needs improvement (only one made three all year) but when that improves his ranking is sure to rise. Brandon Hopson Brandon Hopson 6'0" | PG Jefferson | 2021 State OR , Roosevelt - Ranked #22 After a breakout year on the AAU circuit last spring and summer, Hopson’s performance as a junior was admittedly a bit up and down. There were some games where the 6-foot guard really got things going offensively both knocking down long range shots while also converting drives in the lane. However there were also some other contests where he was much less of a factor. Hopson will have to really pick up responsibilities as a senior and we’ll be looking for improved consistency and decision making - the talent is there. Nic Boyd Nic Boyd 6'0" | PG La Salle Prep | 2021 State OR , La Salle - Ranked #23 Boyd plays with a great feel for the game and with more of an offensive load placed upon his shoulders in 2019-20, he rose to the occasion. The 5-foot-11 rising senior has a nice stroke on his shot, has come a ways with his ability to get to the hoop, and while his assist numbers were a little lower this past year due to the need for him to score, there’s no question he’s a point guard. A high-academic performer, Boyd has garnered plenty of D-III recruiting interest.
