Drew Zalescik Drew Zalescik 6'0" | PG South Hunterdon | 2021 State NJ (2021) | South Hunterdon
Zalescik was the No. 1 option for a South Hunterdon team that won 17 games this season. He also led the team in rebounding and was second in assists and steals. Zalescik knocked down 40 three’s during his junior year. He scored a total of 439 points. He is already a star and will be must watch in Hunterdon County in 2020-2021.
Charles Gillikin (2021) | Hunterdon Central
Gillikin is one of many strong returning players for Hunterdon Central. He led the team with 34 made three’s in his junior year. Gillikin is a versatile guard on the perimeter. He is a player that can get past a defender off the dribble or shoot from deep. He has a strong jump shot off the dribble or can pull up on the elbow. Gillikin will take his name to another level as a senior.
Justin Vernieri (2022) | Voorhees
Vernieri took a big step as a sophomore on both ends. He became a huge contributor for Voorhees and it began from three-point territory. He was a threat from anywhere on the floor. It helped that Vernieri had the ability to put the ball on the floor and get past his defender.
Brian Johansson (2021) | Hunterdon Central
Johansson and Gillikin are part of the guard heavy returners for Hunterdon Central. This team won 18 games a season ago and they can surpass that number as they get more experienced. Johansson is yet another threat from deep that knocked down 30 plus three’s. He has a quick release and is not shy about letting it go over larger defenders.
Sal Mauro (2021) | Delaware Valley
One of the top returning shooters in the county resides at Delaware Valley. They won just 10 games last season but Mauro will take on a bigger role and that could get them a few more wins. He is an elite shooter and agile enough to make an impact on the defensive end as well.
