Rodman was far from a scorer, allowing Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and others to hand that portion of the game.
Instead, Rodman focused on rebounding and how much of a role that played on the success of the Bulls.
With that being said, let us take a look at the top rebounders in the state in the Class of 2021:
Angelo Winkel Angelo Winkel 6'9" | C Bishop Garrigan | 2021 State IA , Bishop Garrigan (2021)
One of the top post players in the Class of 2021, Angelo Winkel Angelo Winkel 6'9" | C Bishop Garrigan | 2021 State IA will be handed control of the Bishop Garrigan team next year following the graduation of several key seniors.
And as he showed this past winter, Winkel is more than capable. Already holding interest from several Div. I programs, the 6-foot-9 Winkel was a double-double machine, averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds a night.
He also showed an improvement from long-range, burying a dozen 3-pointers to go along with 58 percent shooting from the field, 63 assists and 45 blocks.
Analysis: Losing Cade Winkel Cade Winkel 6'4" | PF Bishop Garrigan | 2020 State IA , John Joyce John Joyce 6'3" | PG Bishop Garrigan | 2020 State IA and others will leave holes to fill for the Golden Bears, but they have a great building block to work with in Winkel.
Jakob Washington Jakob Washington 6'2" | SF West Fork | 2021 State IA , West Fork (2021)
Much like his conference rival Angelo Winkel Angelo Winkel 6'9" | C Bishop Garrigan | 2021 State IA , Jakob Washington Jakob Washington 6'2" | SF West Fork | 2021 State IA helped West Fork reach the state tournament this past winter. Washington was the second-leading junior rebounder in the state behind only Winkel with 237 boards.
Of those, 71 were on the offensive glass, as Washington also scored just under 12 points per game with 83 assists and 53 steals.
Analysis: Following a nice junior season, look for even more out of Washington next year as he looks to improve on his 50 percent shooting and 18 made 3-pointers.
Reed Stallman Reed Stallman 6'3" | PF Alburnett | 2021 State IA , Alburnett (2021)
As a junior, Reed Stallman Reed Stallman 6'3" | PF Alburnett | 2021 State IA did a little bit of everything for Alburnett, including posting a team-high 236 rebounds.
Stallman collected 76 offensive boards, scoring 12 points a night on 57 percent shooting. He was also one of three players with over 50 assists, adding 29 steals and 18 blocks.
Analysis: Stallman, who stands 6-foot-3, is a multi-sport standout for Alburnett and should be primed for an exceptional senior season.
Beau Butler Beau Butler 6'3" | PF South Hardin | 2021 State IA , South Hardin (2021)
The team leader in points, rebounds and blocks, Beau Butler Beau Butler 6'3" | PF South Hardin | 2021 State IA and South Hardin are primed for big things next winter.
Butler posted over 10 rebounds a night, recording 231 total with 88 on the offensive end. When he did miss, which was not very often while shooting 69 percent from the field, he cleaned it up.
Analysis: One of three double-digit scorers for South Hardin, the senior-to-be will be looking for bigger things over the next few months.
Payton Sandfort Payton Sandfort 6'7" | SF Waukee | 2021 State #138 Nation IA , Waukee (2021)
One of the top overall players in the Class of 2021, Waukee’s Payton Sandfort Payton Sandfort 6'7" | SF Waukee | 2021 State #138 Nation IA averaged almost 20 points and nine rebounds a night.
Sandfort led the Warriors with 225 total boards, including 52 on the offensive end. He shot nearly 54 percent from the floor, 45 percent from the 3-point line and 87 percent at the free throw line.
Analysis: Look for even more as Sandfort prepares for his final year as a prep next season. He helped Waukee reach the Class 4A state finals this past winter.
Andrew Formanek Andrew Formanek 6'6" | PF Clear Lake | 2021 State IA , Clear Lake (2021)
At just over nine rebounds a night, Andrew Formanek Andrew Formanek 6'6" | PF Clear Lake | 2021 State IA was the inside to Clear Lake’s strong 1-2 punch with Carson Toebe Carson Toebe 6'3" | PG Clear Lake | 2022 State IA , a member of the Class of 2022.
Formanek grabbed 81 offensive rebounds to go along with 141 on the defensive glass, adding almost 16 points per game on 67 percent shooting from the floor.
Analysis: With the loss of Jaylen DeVries Jaylen DeVries 6'3" | SF Clear Lake | 2020 State IA to graduation, there will be an opportunity for Formanek to average a double-double next year for the Lions.
