In this series we dive into the 40 premier performances from the year that we personally witnessed. Here is our Top Performances We Saw This Season: #16 – #20!
#16 Ray’sean Taylor Ray’sean Taylor 5'10" | PG Collinsville | 2020 State #284 Nation IL (Collinsville)
The newly minted SIU-Edwardsville commit opened up the season for Collinsville at the Pyramid Plus Tournament. He has owned this event over the years and he would do so again in his senior campaign. Collinsville and Mt. Vernon were two of the best teams coming into the season in southern Illinois. Taylor and Collinsville completely dominated them as he scored 30 points while winning with ease!
#17 Max Christie Max Christie 6'4" | SG Rolling Meadows | 2021 State #12 Nation IL (Rolling Meadows)
Against Schaumburg and friend Chris Hodges Chris Hodges 6'7" | C Schaumburg | 2021 State #84 Nation IL the top junior in the state was excellent. The ultra-smooth two guard has a versatile offensive game which allows him to score from all three levels with such an ease. He had a deep three early in the game where he got elevation off the floor. Also mixed in pull up mid-range jumpers from an array of spots on the floor. That is probably the area he is most comfortable. He does a great job of creating space and rising up for shots. He has a wiry frame, but isn’t afraid to create contact on his shot to get the foul. Put in a few runners. Displayed a nice passing feel getting others involved with his distributing. Often drew the defender on drives and then found shooters on the other side of court or corners for open looks. Defensively he guarded Hodges at times. Struggled a bit with his strength, but once again Christie isn’t a post either. He did have a nice shot block. Christie went for 31 points.
#18 Troy D’Amico Troy D’Amico 6'7" | SF Niles Notre Dame | 2021 State #181 Nation IL (Niles Notre Dame)
D’Amico continues to be the best player that nobody talks about in the stellar Illinois junior class. The 6’6” small forward is uber skilled with a feathery perimeter stroke. He knocked in four of them from deep in their game against Curie. D’Amico has excellent shot prep and is ready to fire as soon as it hits his hands. Also displayed his versatile skill set being able to post up making quick moves for scores and put it on the deck on a number of occasions for straight line takes. Rebounds well for his position and is a sound distributor from his wing spot. He had 29 points.
#19 Devin Davis Devin Davis 5'10" | PG Westinghouse | 2020 State IL (Westinghouse)
Davis was throwing fire on his pull up jumper from mid-range and especially three against Hinsdale Central. Davis hit 7-9 from beyond the arc mostly on threes he created on his own. Was balanced with sound form each time. Didn’t seem to force difficult shots either. He was a complete shooting show! Davis had 33 points.
#20 Ryan Isaacson Ryan Isaacson 6'7" | PF Hinsdale Central | 2020 State #440 Nation IL (Hinsdale Central)
Isaacson was more than comfortable on his home floor in the first round of the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. The skilled four man is known as a floor stretcher which he did to perfection connecting on 6-7 from thee point land. Smooth and effortless stroke letting it fly. Also has underrated athleticism with a reverse layup and couple blocks. Went for 30 points.
