Carson Howard (2023) | Lacey Township
Howard emerged as the future of basketball at Lacey. The 6’7 freshman had a big rookie year. He averaged 13.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. He showed off his strength and ability to finish with contact. This landed him at the free throw line for some easy points. Howard is a big body with quick feet and strong hands. He is not a finished product, but his game is well beyond his years.
Jashair Rosa (2022) | Manchester Regional
Rosa and Asim Jones Asim Jones 6'3" | SG Paterson Charter | 2022 State NJ are two threats in the Class of 2022 that will carry Manchester. They have already begun to do so with 20 wins this season. Rosa showed an ability to score from all three levels. He stepped out and hit the occasional three but did his best work down low. He led the team in rebounding and was second in scoring, only behind Jones.
Justin Soranno Justin Soranno 6'6" | SF Central Regional | 2022 State NJ (2022) | Central Regional
Central is a young team and the youth showed this past season. That gives them hope for the future and Soranno is leading the movement. The 6’5 forward showed a certain athleticism when on the floor. He was always in the right spot and knew how to capitalize on mistakes from his opponents. He is a big body with a soft touch that can rebound at a high level.
Joe Coakley (2021) | Point Beach
Point Beach has their next great guard in Chris Venturoso Chris Venturoso 6'3" | SG Lacey | 2023 State NJ and they hope to build a strong pair for next season with Coakley. The junior showed a great ability to score down low and off put backs. He has a soft touch around the rim and can be a big time rim protector on the defensive end.
Stephen Mellett (2023) | Point Boro
Another standout freshman in the Point Pleasant area is Mellett from Boro. He averaged just under eight rebounds per game. He was always one of the top players around the glass during games. He is a double-double threat and has the skill set to be one of the leading rebounders in the state in upcoming years.
Jay Silva (2021) | Southern
Silva was the leader down low for a Southern team that won 16 games. He is a presence on the floor. Silva can outbound opponents and turn quick defense into offense. He is a strong player that can get to the line by drawing contact and finishing around the rim.
