#20 Xavier Savage (2021) | 5-11 | Frisco Centennial High School:
High-level scorer who put up big numbers all year with his remarkable scoring abilities. He has some really good handles that get him through the lane where he can finish with a crafty layup from either hand. Xavier has a mean pull up jumper from mid-range and beyond the perimeter and an abundance of ways of getting to these shots. His speed with the ball, combined with his hesitation and stepback moves creates open shots for him all day. Very good at shooting off the dribble and can be dangerous in catch and shoot situations. Savage’s capability to carry the scoring load on his team earned him the All-District Offensive MVP award this season. Xavier Savage is a player we should all be aware of, he has the type of game that you really have to game plan for. If he can will his team to a few more wins and another playoff visit, then he will be one of the top-ranked point guards in the city.
#19 De’Juan Leffall (2021) | 5-8 | South Oak Cliff High School:
Super speedy high IQ guard with like a lightning-fast first step. He’s a natural-born facilitator, has great touch on his passes, and sees everyone on the court; averaged 7 assists per game this season. De’Juan does a great job of leading his team and making each player around him better with his ability to get into the teeth of the defense and dish it to his big man or out to the open shooter. On the defensive end, Leffall is a tough gritty defender that is in lockdown mode from start to finish. Incredible awareness, strong quick-hands that allow him to strip the ball from even your best ball handler. A relentless defender that is also a true threat in the passing lanes. If De’Juan Leffall can continue to improve his jump shot and extend his range he will be way higher on this list by midseason.
#18 Elijah Taylor Elijah Taylor 5'9" | PG iSchool Lewisville | 2021 State TX (2021) | 5-9 | Wylie High School:
Elite guard with superior playmaking instincts whether it’s passing or scoring. He’s a scary player with the ball in his hands, you never know how he’s going to strike. Eli takes his time and doesn’t force anything. Not only does he possess great ball control, but he has unguardable ankle-breaking moves. He has no problem beating his man off the dribble or pulling up in his face for a 3-pointer. His game consistently exposes the weaknesses in the defenses he’s facing. Taylor filled the stat sheet all season averaging 11 points 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game; this effort earned him the Offensive Player of the Year award. This productivity was a huge reason his team went undefeated in district play and ended the season ranked as a top 20 team in all of Texas. If Elijah Taylor Elijah Taylor 5'9" | PG iSchool Lewisville | 2021 State TX can take his game to the next level this upcoming season, he’ll end up bringing some hardware back to Wylie.
#17 Kylin Green Kylin Green 6'0" | PG Lewisville | 2021 State TX (2021) | 6-0 | Lewisville High School:
High motor guard with a good physical profile, he has nice size, a strong and powerful first step, hops, and sneaky explosiveness. The intangibles he displays sets him apart from other point guards. Game after game, Kylin finds a way to make an impact, even if it means getting physical and going for rebounds, locking his player down, or creating on the offensive end. Very offensively versatile, he’s unselfish and always looking to make the extra pass but he can also score; capable shooter especially when given space, can take the baseline, or just blow by you and score at the rim. Kylin Green Kylin Green 6'0" | PG Lewisville | 2021 State TX averaged 12 points per game this season while playing with two of the best players in the state. This number and his stock should shoot up tremendously next year since he will have many more opportunities due to the two players moving on to other programs.
#16 Kobe Wiggins Kobe Wiggins 5'9" | PG Wylie | 2021 State TX (2021) | 5-9 | Wylie High School:
All-around point guard who always does a great job of controlling the tempo of the game. Excellent physical tools, strong body, insanely quick lateral speed, ball handling speed, and reaction time. Kobe can do just about anything that you could ask from your lead guard. A shot creator for himself and his teammates; excels at drawing the defense in then dishing the ball out for a better shot. Very smart player with next-level court vision, he makes maneuvering through defenses and getting to the hoop look easy. Wiggins ability to guard his position well shows just how high his upside as a defender is. This outstanding play awarded Kobe the 6A All-District MVP honor and also a shot at the state title game before the playoffs were abruptly canceled. Kobe Wiggins Kobe Wiggins 5'9" | PG Wylie | 2021 State TX is college-ready and if he continues to play at this level next season the Wylie Pirates will be in the state championship game.
