Everyone knows the CPS powers will be contenders come March like always, but these 25 programs from around the state are ones to watch that could be even better than this year. Here are our Teams on the Rise for 2020-2021 Part 4!
Rolling Meadows
They have the best senior in the state. That is always a good start. Five-star Max Christie is an elite high-major prospect. Big time scorer with an ultra-fluidity to his offensive game. Can score from all three levels with ease. Christie is the type of player that can elevate a team. This will be his chance to prove he can do that on the high school level. His younger brother Cam Christie is a quality 2023 prospect in his own right. Had several good scoring outings as a freshman.
Schaumburg
Another team that has a top 5 senior leading the way. Schaumburg is anchored inside by Wisconsin bound post Chris Hodges. He has the potential to be the most dominant big man in the state next year. Scores on the block, rebounds at a high level, and flashed some face up abilities as a junior. Vaurice Patterson opened our eyes as a spot up shooter. The 2022 prospect will be key for Schaumburg next year.
Springfield
This is definitely an up and coming team with three rising seniors that should all play at the next level! Point guard Shane Miller Shane Miller 6'2" | PG Springfield | 2021 State IL is a consistent producer at the lead guard spot who can really get downhill. Tyvin Garrison is a bouncy four man that plays with a high motor. Bennie Slater is emerging late in the process and is one that could blow up!
Springfield Lanphier
Lanphier is loaded with prospects they are about to unleash on the state. Rising senior big man KJ Debrick is one of the better kept secrets with his shot blocking, rebounding, and efficiency scoring in the paint. Class of 2022 shooting guard Tye Banks ranks among the best in his class. Smooth guard that can score, pass, and defend. Speaking of young guards 2023 Tevonta Jackson is the next prime time floor general at Lanphier with his speed and playmaking ability.
Springfield Southeast
Southeast is led once again by James Dent. The top 20 2021 prospect is a high level shot maker with a rangy frame. He can really shoot it from distance and showed an improved all-around game on both ends this past season. The growth of 2022 shooting guard Kamran Banks Kamran Banks 6'2" | SG Springfield Southeast | 2022 State IL will be key for this squad.
