Now it’s time we combine all of the classes to come up with master list of the regions prospects regardless of class. In this piece we take a look at the best combo guard and shooting guard prospects the region has to offer from the classes of 2021, 2022 and 2023.
1. Mikey Williams, 2023, San Ysidro: Williams’ scoring outbursts were well documented this season, including a San Diego Section record 77 points in a win over Kearny. There’s no denying the dynamic athleticism, shot creating and shot making abilities of the 6-foot-3 freshman who has the ability to score efficiently from all three levels of the floor. After such a strong first-year, it will be interesting to track Williams’ development over the next three years.
2. Reese Dixon-Waters Reese Dixon-Waters 6'5" | SG St. Bernard | 2021 State #79 Nation CA-S , 2021, St. Bernard: One of the smoothest three-level scorers in the region has impressive size and shooting form both off the catch and off the bounce. Dixon-Waters, who is committed to USC, has a balanced pull-up jumper at the mid-range level and does nice job of creating space on the perimeter with his footwork.
3. Kenneth Simpson, Jr. Kenneth Simpson, Jr. 6'2" | CG Chaminade | 2021 State #97 Nation CA-S , 2021, Chaminade: Simpson is a terror to cover in transition. His downhill speed and balance combined with his strength allow him to power through defenders for strong paint finishes. The 6-foot-2 junior can initiate offense when needed, but also fills the lane nicely in transition resulting in slashing buckets.

Jahmai Mashack Jahmai Mashack 6'3" | SG Etiwanda | 2021 State #68 Nation CA-S , 2021, Etiwanda: Mashack is the best all-around defender regardless of class in this coverage area. He’s shown the ability to guard 1-5 effectively, while also thriving in Etiwanda’s team defensive scheme. From a scoring standpoint, Mashack can slice through defenses and finish at the basket or hit a balanced 15-foot jumper.
5. Malik Thomas Malik Thomas 6'3" | SG Damien | 2021 State #99 Nation CA-S , 2021, Damien: There aren’t many players who can fill up the scoring column like Thomas can. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard epitomizes the “three level scorer” tag with his stop and pop jumper from three-point and mid-range levels to go along with his physical paint finishing ability. Thomas is another good early pledge for USC’s 2021 recruiting class.
