Now it’s time we combine all of the classes to come up with master list of the regions prospects regardless of class. In this piece we take a look at the best combo guard and shooting guard prospects the region has to offer from the classes of 2021, 2022 and 2023.
6. Jared McCain, 2023, Corona Centennial: McCain didn’t have your typical freshman on varsity season as he stepped into a starting role and thrived with his ability to knock down three-pointers at a high rate. The 6-foot-1 combo guard played off the ball the majority of the season playing alongside Paris Dawson Paris Dawson 6'1" | PG Corona Centennial | 2020 State #356 Nation CA-S , but should take over the reins at the PG spot next season.
7. Jurian Dixon, 2023, San Ysidro: Dixon didn’t let the bright lights of the Mikey Williams show drown him out and instead rose to the occasion by putting together a strong season of his own. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard has all the size, length and athleticism you look for in a young prospect, but also showed flashes of an impressive all-around offensive package to go along with being a good rebounder for his size and position.
8. Benny Gealer Benny Gealer 6'1" | PG Rolling Hills Prep | 2022 State CA-S , 2022, Rolling Hills Prep: “The Jet” as some like to call him is the Vinnie “Microwave” Johnson of SoCal high school hoops with his ability to score in bunches. Gealer is cat-quick with the ball in his hands and one of the most fearless attackers the region has to offer. If you’re looking for a guy with a deep bag of offensive tricks who isn’t afraid of the moment, Benny is your guy.
9. Scotty Washington Scotty Washington 6'4" | SG St. John Bosco | 2021 State #223 Nation CA-S , 2021, St. John Bosco: Washington could be a bit higher on this list, but it’s tough to place him due to the shoulder injury which ended his junior season early. The smooth 6-foot-4 off-guard was just starting to put his skill-set together with his upside and turning the corner from prospect to productive varsity starter, as well. We’re hoping Washington can have a fully healthy year next season.
10. David Elliot, IV David Elliot, IV 6'3" | CG Birmingham | 2021 State CA-S , 2021, Birmingham: The recent LMU-commit is another guy who can fill up the scoring column in a hurry. Elliot is a big time shot creator off the bounce and has shown to be a deadly option from three-point range when he gets some rhythm dribbles in prior to pulling from deep.
