In our latests rankings coverage, we wanted to regionalize the lists a little more, here are Orange County’s best from No.’s 6-10.
6. Daniel Esparza Daniel Esparza 6'2" | SG Sonora | 2021 State CA-S , 2021, Sonora – We’ve considered Esparza the best public school player in Orange County since for two summers and his junior season only tightened his hold on that distinction. The 6-foot-2 combo guard is an electric three-level scorer who can also handle the ball and initiate offense with his playmaking ability. The Cal Poly SLO-commit plays with energy that is rarely matched on a game-by-game basis.
7. Denim Dawson Denim Dawson 6'5" | SF Orange Lutheran | 2021 State CA-S , 2021, Orange Lutheran – The 6-foot-5 wing made the move to the Lancers shortly after season’s end and he brings with him a wealth of athleticism, length and potential. Dawson is an active on-ball defender, good rebounder for his size and position, and gives OLu a heightened level of transition finishing.
Laguna Beach junior [player_tooltip player_id="680226" first="Nolan" last="Naess"] is as versatile a forward you’ll see in Orange County and beyond.8. Nolan Naess Nolan Naess 6'7" | PF Laguna Beach | 2021 State CA-S , 2021, Laguna Beach – Naess isn’t a guy who will blow you away with explosiveness or athleticism, but plays the game with a high basketball IQ and understanding of how to use footwork, shot fakes, and moving without the ball to get to his spots. At 6-feet-7, Naess can score inside and out with limited dribbles and a high level of efficiency.
9. Jeremiah Davis Jeremiah Davis 6'3" | SG Fountain Valley | 2021 State CA-S , 2021, Fountain Valley – Davis sparked a memorable run for the Barons this past season that saw them reach the Southern Section and State semifinals. The 6-foot-3 guard is a crafty scorer in the painted area and is an effective mid-range scorer with his balanced stop-and-pop jumper.
10. Langston Redfield Langston Redfield 6'3" | PG Capistrano Valley | 2021 State CA-S , 2021, Capistrano Valley – Redfield is the best pure passer in Orange County. The lanky 6-foot-3 point guard operates with a true pass-first mentality, sets teammates up with accurate and timely passes, and truly understands how to run a team. Redfield is an impressive rebounder for his size and position, but is unselfish to a fault at times offensively, and has some work to do with his perimeter shot.
