Reid is one of the top quarterback prospects in the state and he’s been playing a combo guard role for the Cougars for several years now. Patterson is one of the hardest working student athletes in his class and the pandemic has not changed that fact.
“It’s been tough to do any basketball training besides going outside and shooting on my hoop but I’m starting to train with my trainer again so hopefully it won’t take too long to get back on track,” Reid said.
“Lifting and conditioning haven’t been tough to do because I have an at home weight set I use a lot and I can run hills, sprints, or go distance running whenever I want to outside. It took awhile to get used to but being on a schedule now really helps with everything.”
Patterson will play with Minnesota Select if we have a 17u season and he’s excited to get and any group workout started.
“This year with Select I think we will be one of the top teams in the state because we are going to be really deep at all positions and will be able to compete with anyone so it should be a fun season when we finally get to play together,” Patterson said.
“The part of my game that needs the most improvement would be shooting off the dribble and improving my on ball defense,”
As far as colleges go, who is in contact with Reid?
“For football I mainly hear from South Dakota State, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Northern State, and St. Thomas,” Patterson said. “For Basketball I’ve heard from the same schools as football and then Wofford, Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud State, Bemidji State, and St. John’s.”
Reid has taken one visit so far.
“Last fall I just happened to be in Duluth and met with a few of the coaches there.”
Patterson is looking for a program that wins. At South the football team was 10-2 in the fall and then followed that up with a 21-7 basketball season. Winning is what Reid wants to continue.
“Wherever I decide to go I just want to win at all costs,” Reid said.
