Standout guard Anton Brookshire Anton Brookshire 6'2" | PG Kickapoo | 2021 State #146 Nation MO of Springfield Kickapoo has given a verbal commitment to the University of Missouri. The 6’2″ Brookshire made his announcement on his Instagram account earlier this week. He becomes the first recruit in head coach Cuonzo Martin’s 2021 recruiting class.
A multi-talented combo guard with deep shooting range Brookshire is coming off a big junior season in which he led the Chiefs to a Final Four berth in the Class 5 state tournament. As a junior, he averaged 20.5 points, four rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.2 steals while shooting 45 percent from the field. He has explosive quickness and three-level scoring ability to go along with his long distance shooting.
Brookshire enjoyed a big coming out party on the big stage of the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions in Springfield in January. In the opening round of the tournament, Brookshire scored a game-high 33 points against perennial national powerhouse Oak Hill Academy. He made seven of 12 3-pointers in the game, which got the crowd at the John Q. Hammons Center into a frenzy. He went on to average 24 points a game in Kickapoo’s three games at the TOC.
As a sophomore, Brookshire averaged 18.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists while making 79 3-pointers in leading the Chiefs to a quarterfinals berth in the Class 5 state playoffs. His 3-pointer at the buzzer gave the Chiefs a victory over Nixa in the district championship game.
During the grassroots season, Brookshire plays with Yanders Law for his uncle Rob Yanders, a former Missouri State University guard.
