#116 Melique Hambrick Melique Hambrick 5'9" | PG Tyner Academy | 2021 State TN (Tyner Academy)
As quick as they come. Melique is an undersized guard that just produces and produces. Melique buried one of the most thrilling shots of the entire Class AA season on March 3rd. Hambrick beat the buzzer from deep to oust a feisty, talented Red Bank High team.
Melique attended the PrepHoopsTN Summer Combine in June 2019. Though he has physically matured with sprint speed and strength, his measurements are the same. Also, his strengths and weaknesses continue. How did he measure against the competition?

NBA Stylistic Comparison: 1998 Hawks Mookie Blaylock
College Projection: JuCo.Melique Hambrick Melique Hambrick 5'9" | PG Tyner Academy | 2021 State TN earned placement in the All-Star Game based upon recommendation from then-Cleveland High Assistant Coach Reggie Tucker. Coach Tucker loved the way Hambrick competed in the afternoon session (5 vs. 5/drills). Hambrick is jet-quick, but his hot shooting impressed Coach Tucker.
Hambrick performed as a scoring guard most of the event. He projects as a quick, incisive lead guard. Because he moves so quickly, Hambrick is athletic enough to create for himself or, more importantly, create opportunities for more talented teammates. College point guards are tasted with creating for all. Hambrick should be able to do this. He performs this role with Tyner, too.
His wingspan is concerning at 5-foot-8. Though he possesses quick hands, the deflections are uncommon. Hambrick played with quick feet. He was not as consistent defensively as he could be.
Hambrick certainly emits leadership. Teammates kind of gravitate towards him. Though he is quiet, at times, he still carries some influence.
Speed and timing exercises gave Hambrick a chance to show off his quicks. His time in the 3/4 sprint impressed. Melique Hambrick Melique Hambrick 5'9" | PG Tyner Academy | 2021 State TN recorded a 3.28, which sorted him in the top 5 on the day. His lane agility was not as fast relative to the competition (12.56). This was his only time recorded in the lane agility and many players had difficulty with the footwork traversing the elongated rectangle.
Overall, there are limitations to Hambrick’s game that are largely dictated by his size (5’9 1/2″) and there are strengths to his game largely centered around his quick feet. Shooting range is a strength and look for his success in the game to orbit this attribute.
#117 Kam’ron Crump Kam’ron Crump 6'6" | PF Overton | 2021 State TN (Overton)
Still raw offensively. His height will allow him some time to develop as scouts are always more patient with forwards. There just are not enough forwards to go around. Crump played for Overton’s first-year coach Shelvie Rose III this past winter. According to Overton Head Coach Shelvie Rose III, “I have Kam’ron Crump Kam’ron Crump 6'6" | PF Overton | 2021 State TN , 6’6 aggressive BIG who can shoot really, really good!”
#118 Gavin Murrey Gavin Murrey 6'4" | SG Memphis University School | 2021 State TN (Memphis University School)
Tall shooter. Spaces the floor very well. Handle is just ok.
#119 Elijah Njie Elijah Njie 6'0" | SG Ezell-Harding | 2021 State TN (Ezell-Harding)
Elijah still has not put a great season together and imagining him dominating high school basketball gets harder and harder. Njie was a true athletic freak as a 14u and 15u hooper, but he keeps moving schools. The rumor is he will attend Cane Ridge High this winter. If he does, will he play a significant role? Njie is a great leaper and might be a volume scorer, but we need to see it for him to keep his ranking for one more cycle.
#120 Caleb Brooks Caleb Brooks 6'2" | PG Brentwood Academy | 2021 State TN (Brentwood Academy)
Almost certainly will play college football. Brooks played a big role with Brentwood Academy after Randy Brady moved and former head coach Hubie Smith retired. Brooks was thrust into a prominent role immediately. Physically, Brooks was ready, but his skill lagged behind the league. Brooks is a bruiser with the basketball and defends excellently. In the last year, Caleb grew to 6-foot-3 and hammered the weight room. Because of his physicality and ferocious competitiveness, Brooks will likely finish his career in the Top 110 of the best class in PrepHoopsTN’ existence.
