Here, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several prospects coming off a strong junior season who are poised to crack the rankings in the future.
Kobe Hoover, 5’8, PG, 2021, Washington County
A smart defensive player for WC and an all-around leader and scoring option. He’s quick with the ball in his hands and looks to get upo the floor and use his speed and handles to find edges, corners and can get inside and score through contact. He stays on his line when he attacks and has solid fakes and moves to help him find separation. Hoover was a 1A All-State honorable mention his junior season.
Stavian Jones, 5’9, G, 2021, Seabury (2nd team)
Another standout for Seabury who has good athleticism, awareness and an eye for picking passes and kicking off transition looks. Jones makes a statement on both ends of the floor and has a soft touch to his shot and a nice rhythm to his step. He can create with his handles but also plays terrific off the ball. He steps into his shot and looks to play physical and make plays in a variety of ways using his athleticism. Jones was a 2A second team All-State performer.
Jackson Rader, 5’9, PG, 2021, Marysville
Nice point guard for Marysville who brings control and a high IQ to the floor. He can operate with and without the ball but is that his best creating for himself and his team. He is quick and can get to the basket and get around opponents but can also step back and knock down jumpers and shots around the ark. A defensive player as well who forces turnovers and stays active on both sides of the floor. Rader was a 3A All-State honorable mention this last season.
Kayde Rietzke, 5’7, PG, 2021, Wichita County
The leading scorer for WC and a quick and wiry player at that. Rietzke was the leading scorer for his team with 15.1 points and also led in assists with 4.3 and steals with 2.9 per game. He also averaged an impressive 5.1 rebounds per game as well. He’s not going to back down from a challenge and he’s always looking for a 3-point shot. He is good at creating his own space, getting others involved and finding separation using his dribble and head fakes. A 2A All-State honorable mention and a strong team leader.
Darby Roper, 5’11, G, 2021, Haven
A 3A All-State honorable mention, Roper was a valuable piece to Haven’s success and showed good instincts and a natural feel for the guard position given his unselfish nature, aggressive play at the perimeter and ability to play hard on both ends of the floor. He does what is needed and plays hard and looks to make thoughtful plays and use his athleticism and strength to his advantage.
Cooper Wolf, 6’0, PG, 2021, South Haven
Wolf is an impressive point guard who can create with his dribble in either hand. He can attack the basket, score inside but is also a stop-and-pop player with a high release point and a solid shooting mechanic all his own. A 6’0 guard who earned 1A All State honorable mention honors for his high scoring performances for South. Wolf led his team in scoring with 21.2 points and added 3.7 assists, five rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.
