These rankings take into account among other things, players’ production from the 2019-20 season, as well as any camps, tournaments, or events taking place before the cancelation of the grassroots Spring season. In this article, PH takes a look at the top pure point guards making an appearance in the c/o 2022 rankings.
Milos Uzan Milos Uzan 6'4" | PG Dream City Christian | 2022 State #60 Nation AZ 6’3 Desert Pines – You could call Uzan a throwback. He’s a pass-first PG that understands how to organize and run a team. Have to seriously factor in how much he raises the play of those around him when evaluating them. He excels at every skill necessary for a point guard to be successful, including ball handling, passing and patience.
Tavionte Jackson Tavionte Jackson 6'1" | PG Las Vegas | 2022 NV 6’1 Las Vegas – Jackson is unique in the fact that his best skill is his ability to rebound his position. It helps him a lot though. Jackson’s ability to take the ball off the rim and lead the break is one of the skills that make him one of the most dynamic PG’s in the class.
Damion Byrd Damion Byrd 5'10" | PG Silverado | 2022 State NV 5’11 Silverado – Byrd is a good on-ball defender that harasses ballhandlers. He is another pass-first player, one that prefers to set up teammates as opposed to looking for his own shot. Byrd is a high IQ pure PG, that understands the correct plays needed to help his team win.
Elijah Johnson Elijah Johnson 5'10" | PG Durango | 2022 NV 5’10 Durango – Johnson is an interesting player to keep an eye on. His strength is his ability to stay in front of ballhandlers. He is a pest, with a low center of gravity, and quick lateral agility. Johnson will have to improve his offensive game, but he has shown the ability to knock down open 3’s and finish in transition.
Kei Childress Jr Kei Childress Jr 6'1" | PG Rancho | 2022 State NV 6’1 Rancho – Childress is part of a young and talented nucleus at Rancho. His best skill is running the offense and getting the ball into the hands of playmakers. He is part of a balanced Rancho squad and contributed 7 points and 4 rebounds per game last season.
