Below you will find, listed in alphabetical order by last name, 10 of the best shot-blockers from PG County. This is part of a series that will aim to highlight players based on various superlatives.
Note: these superlative lists will not be mutually exclusive. If someone can handle the ball and do something else (i.e. shoot) at a high level, they will be included in both lists.
Favour Aire Favour Aire 6'10" | C Bishop McNamara | 2022 State #86 Nation MD | Bishop McNamara’ 22
A good nickname for Aire could be “The Eraser,” and this is quite frankly because he’s not just one of the most feared rim protector in this area, but the country. He is particularly effective at blocking shots because of his length, timing, and ability to get off the ground in a hurry.
Solomon Eric Solomon Eric 6'8" | C Eleanor Roosevelt | 2021 State MD | Eleanor Roosevelt ’21
Eric was mentioned as a top help defender in the county, and this includes his ability to block shots. He is a strong inside presence with long arms who pridefully protects the rim.
Jonathan Izemef Jonathan Izemef 6'9" | C National Christian | 2021 State MD | National Christian ’21
Owning a 7’0 wingspan, Izemef is a lanky post prospect who excels at pinning shots against the boards. His high motor simply enhances this trait as he can be relied upon at any time throughout a respective game.
Dut Kuol Dut Kuol 6'10" | C Olympus Prep | 2022 State NJ | National Christian ’22
Kuol boasts considerable length and a propensity for blocking shots. The 6-foot-10 big man has not logged significant minutes at the high school level yet, but his upside is tangible and we expect him to realize his potential soon.

As you can see in this video, Lewis displays the instincts, physical tools, and reactions that make him an above-average rim-protector. He’s a good athlete who’s highly coordinated and can impose his will defensively.

Malone is a lanky forward who plays with a very high motor. He’s a good shot-blocker who evidently takes comfort in his defense.

You don’t need to watch Samb play for very long before you realize that he’s one of the top rim-protectors in PG county. At 6-foot-8, he’s a towering paint presence who is adept at using his long arms to block shots. This effect is compounded by Samb’s unrelenting motor.

Versatility is the name of the game when you describe Whitley’s defensive impact. One of the things he does well is protecting the rim. This is in part because he competes hard and plays with high energy at all times.

Williamson is a forceful figure who imposes his will in the paint defensively. He is a natural rim protector who showcases intuitive timing and coordination.
