Joliet West 2023 point guard Jeremy Fears Jeremy Fears 6'1" | PG La Lumiere | 2023 GA has established himself among the best prospects in the class after a strong freshman season where he started for a very good Joliet West squad. Fears ran the show from the jump as a freshman for a talented team that went from single digit wins the previous year to a team to beat in March. Plays with a high basketball IQ and doesn’t seem to be rattled playing against players multiple years older than him. Scoring pop from the point guard position. Makes sound decisions passing when winning off penetration and is pesky on the defensive end.
On Tuesday the latest program to offer Fears was Nebraska out of the Big 10. The Cornhuskers have had recent success with an Illinois standout in former St. Joseph lead guard Glynn Watson running the show. Nebraska joins an impressive early scholarship list that includes Ohio, UIC, Detroit, Chicago State, Iowa State, and DePaul. Three high-majors from different conferences and seven offers total before you start your sophomore year is pretty good!
The other 2023 to secure an offer was Rolling Meadows shooting guard Cameron Christie Cameron Christie 6'4" | SG Rolling Meadows | 2023 State #76 Nation IL . The 6’2” shooting guard gets a bit over shadowed by his older brother Max who is an elite 2021 prospect, but Cameron has a chance to develop into a big time player in his own right. Long and thin frame. Very skilled all-around game that likes using his creative handles getting in the lane, changing gears, and scoring with runners. Also has a nice pull up jump shot from 15-18 feet with easy elevation. Can connect from three as well on occasion.
He scored his first scholarship offer from Michigan State on Tuesday night. No jumping in the shallow end of the offer pool for Cam as he landed his first from one of the best programs in the country. The Spartans are also making a strong push for his older brother as well.
Expect both of these young guards to continue to be two of the most talked about 2023 prospects in the state over the next few years.
