Top Five Prospects
Terrance Eastman of Rapid City Stevens (6’4). Eastman is an interesting player. If he grows an inch or two he could be a really nice face-up four man that has good lateral steps moving around the perimeter and a jumper that has a really nice release after the deep wind-up. He’s also got quick hands and did a nice job moving around off the ball regardless if Stevens faced a zone or man. He could also be a steady shooter as a three as he continues to work on his range and consistency.
Toby Estes of Lyman (6’6). Estes is coming off of a first team all league season where he was named one of the top five players in his league. Scored 13 points a game hitting nearly half of his shots this year.
Caleb Hiatt of Sioux Falls Lincoln (6’5). Caleb was one of the better players with his back to the basket that we’ve looked at the past several months. Type of guy that gets a great bend into his position and holds his man hostage with that secure post-up for an entire possession. Very good holding his man on his hip until extending to finish with either hand, and Caleb is also very good in defensive position moving off the ball screen and working to cut off guard angles.
Caden Hinker of Mitchell (6’6). Caden was an all state Class AA player this season working his way to the top spot in the South Dakota college prospect rankings. Hinker averaged 17.6 points, six rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. What sticks out about watching Hinker? Great size for a player with a shooting stroke at the arc, Hinker not only made them at a nice percentage, his ability to move off the ball using screens and cuts to space allows him the team needed to catch and hit despite defenders being in good position.
Tash Lunday of Flandreau (6’5). All state level player that averaged 22 points and a dozen boards a contest. Love Lunday’s feel for the game. This is a player that can make something out of nothing with his playmaking. Comfortable with his back to the basket, facing at the arc, moving off of screens, or running the floor to make plays. We saw him score through a pair on the move consistently plus his ability to spin away quickly on the block as well his knack for using a one dribble move stepping into space for a quick release caught our eye. Combo forward type.
