Top Five Prospects
Mikele Kambalo of Sioux Falls Washington (5’8). When it comes to Mikele I will put it this way, good luck to the state of South Dakota trying to get past this defensive dynamo the next two years. His lateral agility mixed with ferocious effort is a joy to watch and likely even more fun to coach. The kind of attack and kick, or next pass, Kambalo is also a pass first lead guard we are excited to watch mature.
Tyler O’Neill of Clark/Willow Lake (6’0). O’Neill was a third team all league player this year mostly on his consistency of the scoring touch. O’Neill was a multiple three-point jumper made per game player this year that scored in double figures but he was also a transition decision maker that can handle as well.
Rett Osthus of De Smet (6’0). Osthus earned all league and a top ten prospect spot in the state after he was one of the best lead guard distributors in the entire state. Osthus has a scoring touch as well leading to him being the team’s second option. The Bulldogs have a fantastic sophomore core and Rett is the ball handling leader.
Charlie Ward of Vermillion (5’10). A better back-up lead guard in the state you could not find last year. Why? Ward stepped on the floor with the right mindset accepting his role and instantly grabbing the ball and ready to push pace or move the ball to the right spot on the wing igniting an offense that dissected many teams. Ward has a speedy and strong transition attack, a solid three point touch, and he can pressure the ball.
Jeff Worth of Tea Area (5’10). Most of Worth’s shot attempts came at the arc as he was a solid three point shooter but at the guard spot he was also one of the better ball reversal, next pass decision makers on his team. Tea Area had a quality year considering all the changes the team had and Worth was a key part with his steady play.
