Below you will find, in alphabetical order by last name, 10 of the top perimeter shooters you will find in the region. This is part of a series that will aim to highlight players based on various superlatives.
Note: these superlative lists will not be mutually exclusive. If someone can handle the ball and do something else (i.e. shoot) at a high level, they will be included in both lists.
Angelo Brizzi Angelo Brizzi 6'3" | PG Highland School | 2021 State #216 Nation VA | Highland ’21
One of the first things that you will notice out about Brizzi when you watch him play is his range. The lefty sharpshooter is simply lethal from anywhere inside half court.
Kyle Honore Kyle Honore 5'10" | PG Potomac | 2022 State VA | Potomac ’22
Honore, a second-team all-state selection, is one of the best pure shooters in the area. He shot high volume but was also very efficient this past season.
Darius Johnson Darius Johnson 6'0" | PG Episcopal | 2021 State #159 Nation VA | Episcopal ’21
Shooting is one of many tools that Johnson has on his belt. He’s a heat-check guy, so once he’s hot it takes a while for him to cool off.
Garrett Johnson Garrett Johnson 6'7" | SG Episcopal | 2021 State VA | Episcopal ’21
At 6-foot-6 and some change, Johnson is the tallest player on this list. Shooting has always been one of his best attributes, but it’s been enhanced by his growing physical profile.
Jamie Kaiser | Lake Braddock ’23
Kaiser does many things well, including shoot threes from standstill situations. The 6-foot-5 wing is also a prolific free throw shooter.
Trevor Keels Trevor Keels 6'4" | SG Paul VI | 2021 State #18 Nation VA | Paul VI ’21
This list is simply not complete without mention of Keels, who is regarded as one of the top shooters in the country. He’s done it in pressure situations and against the highest level competition.
Nate Pabis Nate Pabis 6'5" | SF Flint Hill | 2023 State VA | Flint Hill ’22
Pabis is easily the best shooter on his team. He’s certainly in the discussion for the best shooter on this list as well. The 6-foot-3 wing is a dead-eye with a quick release.
Mason So Mason So 6'1" | PG DeMatha | 2023 State MD | Bishop O’Connell ’23
So is a talented shooter in all types of scenarios. Whether he’s spotting up, catching and shooting on the move, or creating off the bounce, you expect the ball to go in every time he releases it.
Jack Taylor | Marshall ’21
Taylor is a big wing with in-the-gym range. He is not a line-hugger and has the size to shoot over the top of most contests.
Khalil Williams | Potomac School ’23
Williams, a lefty marksman, is one of the best young shooters coming up in the DMV. By the time his high school career is over, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he broke the school record for made treys.
