The good news is, the recent shutdown has provided ample opportunity for me to discover talented players during hours of dedicated film study, because of this I expect these to be the most detailed and accurate rankings to date. In this article, PH takes a look at some under the radar players in the c/o 2023.
Logan Howren Logan Howren 6'4" | SG Bishop Manogue | 2023 State NV 6’4 SG Bishop Manogue (#12) – Location plays a part in Howren’s under the radar status, but he’s certainly a young prospect to keep an eye on. Driver, slasher, and a good defender. Howren averaged 9 and 5 in his debut season at Manogue.
Karson Roberts 5’10 PG Bonanza – Roberts had a tremendous year for Bonanza. Thrust into the lineup he responded with several big games including a 21 point outburst against Shadow Ridge. Good shooter, that also rebounds well for his position.
Amar Das 5’7 PG Somerset Skypointe (featured image) – Das is a feisty, competitive point with quick hands and feet. Jitterbug type willing to challenge ballhandlers.
Ryan Hannig 5’10 PG The Meadows School – Hannig had big-time production in an injury-shortened season. Good shooter, that helped lead the Mustangs to the 2A semis. He had a season-high of 24 against Lincoln County.
LJ Mercurius 6’2 SF The Meadows School – TMS is putting together quite a program. Mercurius is another talented freshmen. He has good size and finishing ability. Mercurius averaged 7 ppg in his freshmen season.
Gannon Gottlieb 6’0 SG Incline – Gottlieb put together 18 terrific games for the 2A runner ups. A tough competitive defender, Gottlieb also made his mark as a scorer, going for 30 points over a 2 game stretch in the middle of the year.
James Johnson 6’0 SG Whitell – Flying way under the radar, Johnson had a strong freshmen campaign for the Warriors. He’s a promising player with a good skill set, Johnson was one of the better rebounding guards in the state averaging over 5 per game. He also shot 32% from behind the arc.
Blake Figueroa 6’0 PG Wells – Figueroa had a good year for a 13-11 Wells squad. Showed flashes of being a big-time scorer with 26 against Lund, and 18 vs Eureka.
