The good news is, the recent shutdown has provided ample opportunity for me to discover talented players during hours of dedicated film study, because of this I expect these to be the most detailed and accurate rankings to date. In this article, PH takes a look at some class of 2022 players set to rise.
Elijah Johnson Elijah Johnson 5'10" | PG Durango | 2022 NV 5’9 PG Durango (#19) – You have to take into consideration more than his on-court production. As a sophomore, Johnson was an integral part of Durango’s run to the 4A semis. His on-ball defense impacted the game, and when you add in the fact that he was playing behind essentially 3 D1 guards, you have to start considering him as one of the better players in his class.
Parsa Hadjighasemi 6’2 SG Carson (#16) – I really like this kid! He was one of the most productive players in the state while flying under the radar for a below 500 team in Reno. The combo guard can beat you with the 3, or drive the lane. He had some impressive nights last season including two games where he made at least 6 3’s.
Sylis Gray Sylis Gray 6'3" | SG Bonanza | 2022 State NV 6’3 SF Clark (#15) – Gray was a mis-rank. The athletic wing is one of the best pure scorers in the class. He can create for himself in iso situations and has a nice shooting stroke out to the prep 3.
Shane Thomas Shane Thomas 6'3" | SG Durango | 2022 State NV 6’3 Centennial (#12) – Can I please see Shane Thomas Shane Thomas 6'3" | SG Durango | 2022 State NV play! I truly believed he is one of the most slept on players in the state simply because he hasn’t played. The bouncy wing has a sweet lefty stroke and is an explosive transition finisher. On pure physical talent alone, he is one of the top players in the state.
Tavionte Jackson Tavionte Jackson 6'1" | PG Las Vegas | 2022 NV 6’1 PG Las Vegas (#6) – Jackson has blossomed into a dynamite PG and has earned every rise up the rankings. Perhaps no player who was asked to do as much for his team, carried them the way Jackson did. He led the team in points, and assist, tied for the team lead in steals, and finished second on the club in rebounds from the point guard position. Have a feeling the discussion of what level prospect he is, should start heating up any minute now.
