Delbarton won 21 games in 2019-20, while Mountain Lakes advanced to the sectional semifinals for the second straight season. The county is filled with talented players who should make big contributions at the next level. Here are the top impact players from Morris County.
Rafael Castro Rafael Castro 6'9" | PF Dover | 2021 State #157 Nation NJ , 6’9 PF Dover 2021
No player in Morris County saw a bigger rise in their stock than Castro after a dominant junior campaign. The 6’9 forward was a force inside as he had 25 double-doubles and had at least two blocks in every game he played. Castro is a big-time athlete who can finish above the rim, but is also skilled enough to put the ball on the floor. He is a good on-ball defender and underrated passer. Castro is just scratching the surface of his potential and is primed for a monster senior season.
Christian Cevis Christian Cevis 6'0" | PG West Morris | 2021 State NJ , 6’0 PG West Morris 2021
Cevis has been running the show for West Morris over the last two years, leading the Wolfpack to a pair of Morris County Tournament titles and a 52-7 record. The junior point guard plays with great court vision and is always looking to find his teammates. Cevis has a good handle, which makes him hard to contain off the bounce. He can stretch the defense with his perimeter shooting and is a tough on-ball defender. Cevis has been dynamic for West Morris over the past two seasons and is hoping to take home the elusive North Jersey 2 Group 3 title in his senior season.
Riley Albregts Riley Albregts 5'10" | PG Mountain Lakes | 2021 State NJ , 5’10 PG Mountain Lakes 2021
Mountain Lakes won 20 straight games for the second straight year, but the Lakers will need to replace their top three scorers. Albregts does return for Mountain Lakes and will be looked upon for more of a leadership role. The 5’10 point guard is tough as he is unafraid to attack the basket strong or get after it on the defensive end. Albregts is a solid perimeter shooter and is a good rebounder for a guard his size. Mountain Lakes is looking for a go-to scorer in 2020-21 and Albregts looks to be that guy for the Lakers.
Andrew Stack Andrew Stack 6'2" | SG Madison | 2022 State NJ , 6’2 SG Madison 2022
Stack had a breakout sophomore campaign for the Dodgers as he topped the team in scoring in 2019-20. The 6’2 shooting guard is one of the top shooters in the 2022 class as he has a quick release on his shot and deep range. Stack moves well off the ball and can put the ball on the floor. He is an underrated rebounder and on-ball defender. Madison has a bright future in 2020-21 with Stack back to lead the Dodgers.
Kyle Haegele, G Roxbury 2021
Roxbury loses Brian Nichols to graduation, but returns its leading scorer Haegele. The junior guard loves to attack the basket and knows how to finish around the basket. Haegele has a solid mid-range game and is a capable shooter from distance. He is an underrated defender and works hard on the defensive end. Roxbury won 18 games in 2019-20 and Haegele is looking to make that number get to 20 in his senior season.
