While his recruitment has slowed down during the COVID-19 pandemic, Meyer is starting to hear from new potential suitors.
“Marquette, North Dakota State, Wake Forest, Butler, there’s a lot of other schools too who have reached out to my coach,” Meyer told Prep Hoops Wisconsin.
“North Dakota State sounds like they could offer soon. Marquette, they seem pretty interested as well. They said they want to grow a better relationship with me.”
Meyer holds scholarship offers from UW-Milwaukee, Valparaiso, UW-Green Bay, and South Dakota State. The Phoenix were in a good spot with the 6-foot-8 forward, but opted to fire head coach Linc Darner and his entire staff earlier this month.
“Green Bay was a top choice for me,” Meyer said. “Now that the coach is gone, I’m just waiting to see what happens. I’ll see who they get in there. I had a really good relationship with the last coaching staff. I just want to see if I can have the same relationship with the new staff and go from there.”
As a junior, Meyer averaged 18.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game for the Cheesemakers, who finished with an 18-6 overall record.
If the travel season returns in July or August, Meyer plans to play things out before making a decision. If not, he could come off the board earlier than expected.
“Originally I was thinking about committing before high school starts,” he said. “Depending on what happens with AAU — I’ll wait and see what happens with that. If that doesn’t pan out, I could see myself committing earlier, towards the end of summer.”
