Holding seven scholarship offers, Joplin currently has three sticking out.
“I would say for a top three, Valparaiso, Georgetown, and Butler,” Joplin told Prep Hoops Wisconsin.
Butler was the most recent to pull the trigger on Joplin. The Bulldogs, who hosted the 6-foot-7 forward on Feb. 1, came in with an offer earlier this week.
“I was excited for that offer. I’ve been expecting it for a while now,” Joplin said. “They’re a really good team. I’m definitely considering them. They have a winning culture and I like the way they develop players. Especially at my position, they’ve had guys that have gone to the NBA and they’ve always had a good team.”
Joplin personally spoke with Butler head coach LaVall Jordan.
“He likes my versatility,” Joplin explained. “They’re looking for a guy who can do multiple things. They think I’m the perfect guy for that.”
Georgetown and head coach Patrick Ewing offered Joplin in February.
“The history of the program is exciting,” he said. “You get a chance to play for coach Ewing. I’ve been building a good relationship with them.”
Valparaiso hosted Joplin in October before extending an offer.
“The opportunity to play on a young team,” he said when asked what stands out. “I could play with a lot of guys in my class and do something good.”
Joplin also has offers from UNLV, DePaul, UW-Milwaukee, and UW-Green Bay. He’s also generating interest from California, Marquette, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Iowa, and Cincinnati this spring.
The Bears and Tigers appear to be showing the most love at the moment.
Cal: “I talk to them almost every day. They like my game and the things I can do. They really want to see me play.”
Missouri: “They like my shooting ability, versatility, and ability to guard. They’ve seen a lot of film and my highlights. They’re doing the best they can with not having seen me play.”
As a junior, Joplin averaged 23.2 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game while leading the Lancers to a 24-1 record and a Greater Metro Conference title.
The state’s second-ranked junior, Joplin is in wait-and-see mode with his decision timetable.
“I was definitely thinking about it all and talking it over with my parents,” he said. “If we have AAU, I want to take longer with my decision, just in case more schools offer. But if we don’t, then gotta go with what we have.”
Joplin said he’ll be playing AAU with D1 Minnesota.
