If flags were field goals, this region might be king of the court. In the next few lists, I would like to highlight some players with roots from other countries. If any player fits this description in the future, please contact me in my socials below.
Let’s jump right into it.
Tomas Koski – Mater Lakes Academy Bears
Currently over in Finland, Koski will be suiting up for Mater Lakes Academy and coach Lance Tejada next season. The 6-foot-4 2023 is an excellent shooter and already has the prototypical size you look for at 15 years old. The versatile wing has strong court vision and should fit well in the Bears system. Previously, Koski spent a year playing in Georgia for North Atlanta Christian Flight. With the athleticism of 2023 Anthony Floyd Anthony Floyd 5'7" | CG Hallandale | 2023 FL and Jamai Tejada to penetrate a defense, Koski should find himself open for looks around the perimeter. Fluent in Finnish, Koski has a strong understanding and knowledge of the game. With a Scandinavian sharpshooter in the fold, it is clear Mater Lakes will be a team to watch next season.
Hubertas Pivorius Hubertas Pivorius 6'1" | CG Colombus | 2021 State FL – Columbus Explorers
A 2021 shooting guard, Pivorius averaged 14.2 points and 2.7 rebounds a season ago for the Explorers. The 6-foot-2 Lithuanian knocked down five or more 3-pointers four times and shot 43% on the year. Against the Miami Stingarees, Pivorius dropped a season-high 25 points on 9-for-11 from the field. One of the best shooters in Miami-Dade, the rising senior has room to grow and put on size. With added muscle, Pivorius can only enable himself to be more of a well-rounded shooter. Overall, he should be a key factor in improving the Explorers 15-win season last year.
Eros Carpio Eros Carpio 6'4" | CG Pine Crest | 2021 State FL – Pine Crest Panthers
A 6-foot-4 Venezuelan, Carpio guided the Panthers to a 20-win season and a district final win over North Broward Prep. In that victory, the 2021 scored 12 points and shot 60% from the field. While listed as a forward, Carpio has the athleticism and size to contribute at any position on the court. A true inside-out player, the rising senior has the toughness to score in the paint while stretching out onto the perimeter for a bucket. In addition, Carpio is an excellent passer around the key and can find the open man in a zone. With Ausar and Amen Thompson in the fold, his ability to read a defense and make the extra pass is a huge asset to his profile. An honor roll student, he holds a 4.6 weighted GPA and was selected to play for the Venezuelan national team.
