ND Attack has been one of the top grassroots programs in North Dakota and there are two teams at the 17U level this year.
Here is a quick look
Guards: Caleb Duffield, Jayce Lowman, Shea Carroll, Tyler Thilmony, Jacob Pierce
Duffield is one of the top scorers in Class B and will be in his element on a team with a number of quality ballhandlers and shot-creators, as he’s a terrific multi-level scorer who can create in secondary fashion.
Lowman had a breakout junior season at Mandan, showcasing strong shooting ability (which he also put on display last summer with ND Attack) and on a team with a lot of capable shot-creators, he’ll have ample opportunity to showcase that again.
Shea Carroll has some experience running a team and will have a great opportunity over the summer to do exactly that again. He’s more of a natural facilitator than pure scorer, but he’s certainly capable of getting hot from the 3-point line. With a bevvy of quality shooters all over the floor, Carroll will have a chance to shine.
Thilmony is another guy who has shown that he can shoot the ball from the 3-point line, but will likely be using summer experience as a jumpstart on showcasing more of his game. A quality defender who showed last summer that he can make plays for guys as well.
Pierce saw sparing minutes last year for the Braves and has a well-rounded game that should fit in nicely on a team with a lot of guys used to scoring.
Forwards: Alex Huber, Isaiah Bundy-Smith, Brooks Carroll, Colton Konschak
Huber is one of the best players in the 2021 class and could really benefit from an AAU season, as he averaged nearly 20 points and six rebounds for an EKM team that reached the state tournament. At 6-foot-4, Huber has the size and athleticism to fit nicely as a combo-forward. He’s not a true big man, though he spends most of his time inside for his high school team. Going against guys with similar size/athleticism profiles would be incredibly beneficial for his next-level prospects.
Bundy-Smith played up with ND Attack Black in an abbreviated AAU season and did well in limited action. He followed that up with a solid junior year in which his effectiveness exceeded his on-paper production. At 6-foot-6, Bundy-Smith is an athletic and active kid who has more skill than he’s consistently been allowed to show at Rugby.
Carroll is more of a true swingman than a forward but he’s capable of guarding up in a lineup and on a team with a lot of smaller guards, he’ll likely end up guarding a lot of bigger guys if there’s a summer season. One of the elite pure shooters in North Dakota, Carroll is an ideal fit offensively with any collection of players because of his off-ball ability not only as a spot shooter but as a screener and cutter.
Konschak is more of a point-forward/playmaking wing but similar to Carroll, he’ll likely get to guard bigger, more physical players than he’s been tasked to do throughout his high school career. One of the most talented players in the 2021 class, Konschak is a highly skilled slasher, finisher, passer and can impact the game in a lot of ways and should mesh nicely with this group.
