This team had players who possessed great energy with a real chance to succeed at the next level. This is my detailed scouting report on the wings and forwards from Desoto.
Cole Franklin- 2022 Wing
Cole is a long wing with tremendous potential with his frame and age. He shows great skills at finishing underneath the rim, even while driving with the basketball. His long arms make it easy to rise above defenders for soft runners and strong finishes in the paint. He shrugs off contact while driving and finishing in the lane, even against bigger seniors. He showed a good ability to get out to shooters and actively contesting shots. He is incredibly athletic and seems to rise up with ease to finish over stronger and older defenders. There was a particular play I watched where he got stripped as he rose with the basketball and caught it, readjusted, and finished all before coming down.

– 2021 Power Forward
Chrisdon is a huge forward with great defensive instincts. He showed good intelligence on that end of the floor, sliding over to cut off lanes and forcing his opponents into tough shots. He also stayed ready for easy dump-off passes from his guards, sealing off his defender intelligently and finishing strong through contact. His long lanky arms were able to block shots even when he was beaten off the dribble by an elite guard. He was active on the glass and used his size well to clear out space to grab boards and was great at keeping his head up and looking to pass the ball up court to create fast-break opportunities.

– 2021 Power forward
Robert has a very high release with no wasted movement on his jumper. His long lanky arms allow him to easily rise above his defenders to create effortless looks for himself in the lane and mid-range. He is very smart in the post, a truly lost art today. He used his body well to seal off defenders to allow space for little hooks and layups in the lane. He is an athletic big with a good leaping ability and a scary big frame that bullies underweight forwards that try to hang with him. He moves well for his size, chasing guards across the floor and contesting shots well. He was good at forcing uncomfortable looks for them as well as bullying other bigs in the paint.

– 2021 Wing/ Forward
Duncan is an athletic wing, with a huge frame at six foot seven who protects the rim well. He loves throwing his body into tough defensive plays, taking charges, and making opponents look silly for throwing up soft attempts around him. He is an elite ball-handler for his size and uses his handle to create space to rise up for his jumpers looking comfortable in all three levels of the court. His ability to shoot off the dribble and sometimes out of double teams as he was the main focus for Desoto’s offense was elite and he showed his true powers as a scorer at all three levels. I would like to see more work in the post, especially for his size at this level. He has the body and frame to be able to dominate players on the block and get to the paint at will and should look to develop more turnarounds and fadeaways out of those looks.
