As we move into the summer months, I would like to continue to highlight kids who might otherwise be going unnoticed. I have been greatly impressed with the talent down here since moving from the Northeast back in the fall of 2018. The list below is just another crop of individuals who should be on everyone’s radar.
Let’s take a closer look…
Jose Amat Jose Amat 5'9" | CG Florida Christian | 2022 State FL III – Florida Christian Patriots
A skilled point guard, Amat III led the Patriots to a 19-7 record while leading his team in assists. The 2022 is a well polished at the position with varsity experience dating back to the seventh grade. Moreover, Amat III has great vision on the floor and limits his turnovers. The athletic sophomore is superb attacking the basket and can beat you from long distance if you are not careful. A transfer from Westwood Christian, the 5’9″ Amat III averaged 8.5 points and 6.5 assists for the Patriots. Against Southridge in December, Amat III dropped 16 points on six for ten from the field. In the coming months, Amat III will be running with the South Florida Elite out of Fort Lauderdale. In short order, this kid is going to have the moxy of a senior playing with so many talented players. For more, check out his sophomore highlight tape here.
David Clark David Clark 5'11" | PG Killian | 2022 State FL – Killian Cougars
Another floor general, Clark averaged 11.5 points this past season for the Cougars. The 2022 turned heads with a 31-point performance against TERRA Environmental back in December. In that game, Clark knocked down six of his twelve 3-point attempts. The 5’11” point guard has a strong knack to score and is an excellent free-throw shooter. Against Columbus, Clark knocked down all six of his freebies and hovers around 90% from the line. In addition, Clark tallied seven games with five or more rebounds. I am looking for a big junior season out of him.
Kareem Barnett Kareem Barnett 6'2" | CG Hallandale Highschool | 2022 State FL – North Miami Beach Chargers
Barnett is a prospect I really like because of his ability to play multiple positions. The 2022 can make plays as a shooting guard or as a small forward. For North Miami Beach, Barnett averaged 12.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. On defense, the 2022 swiped away just over two steals per contest. The 6’2″ Barnett looked really good when I saw him back in November against a talented Gulliver Prep team. Against Booker T. Washington, Barnett dropped 26 points in a two-point victory.
David Alize David Alize 5'10" | CG North Miami Beach | 2021 State FL – North Miami Beach Chargers
A two-sport athlete, Alize controlled the court for the Chargers with his point guard play. For North Miami Beach, Alize averaged a steady 5.3 points, 6.1 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game. The 2021 has great footwork and quickness in the back court. Moreover, he is shifty with the ball in his hands and can leave defenders flat-footed. On the defensive side, Alize recorded six steals against North Miami. In that same game, the dynamic junior tallied 11 assists. Overall, Alize will make smart plays whether he is on the gridiron or the hardwood. Oh…he’s a great student to boot with a 3.1 GPA and 1010 SAT.
Johnsky Saintsurin – North Miami Pioneers
A 6-foot-4 tank, Saintsurin averaged 8.9 points and 9.4 rebounds for the Pioneers. The 2021 forward has a strong lower body, evident when he pulled down 18 rebounds against McArthur. Moreover, Saintsurin tallied ten games with ten or more rebounds. As a front court player, you’d be hard pressed to find a better defender. Saintsurin has great awareness blocking shots and tallied multiple games with five or more rejections. Against North Miami Beach, Saintsurin logged 19 points on eight for eleven from the field. In my view, he is the type of kid any coach would love to have around the paint.
Daniel Zaladon Daniel Zaladon 5'11" | PG Keys Gate | 2022 State FL – Keys Gate Knights
Zaladon is a intriguing prospect as he is an elite and efficient scorer. Averaging 14.3 points per game for the Knights, the 2022 is a polished shooter with great rotation off the ball. A play-maker, Zaladon averaged 5.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 4.2 steals per contest. Teaming up with Zidan Waite Zidan Waite 6'3" | CG Keys Gate | 2021 State FL , the Knights have a terrific pair down in Homestead. A 2021, Waite himself has double-double capabilities after averaging 12.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. With his consistency documented, Zaladon can really shoot up the South Florida scene with more visibility.
