When looking at the 2021 draft class in Brooklyn, the only word to describe it is “loaded.” This class contains talent everywhere, from players fighting to make a JUCO roster to players already bathing in Division I scholarship offers. The talent is so steep that when talking about the best players, its hard to leave players out. We have narrowed the field to 56 juniors, and here is the ranking and analysis on players #32-25.
32. Jah Dean Francis | Wingate Educational Campus
Jah Dean Francis has been a great scorer for Wingate this season. Francis has been able to contest rebounds on both ends of the floor, and when it’s a defensive rebound, Francis can be off to the races and put his team in prime position to score with an easy fastbreak. Francis can also score, both with his pull up jumper or through his impeccable standstill range.
31. Anthony Fonseca | Juan Morel Campos
Anthony Fonseca has both the right qualities of a guard and a forward. Fonseca can rebound well on both sides of the floor as well as put up points in the paint on offense and defend the paint on defense. Fonseca can also run the offense and carry the ball, distributing it accurately to his teammates, while he can both penetrate to the rim and shoot of his dribble.
30. Dakari Wint | Bushwick Leaders
Dakari Wint has been one of the better forwards in Brooklyn all season. He can consistently come in and play for a double-double on a per night basis. Wint’s height can let him call the paint his own and challenge both strong forwards and quicker guards from attacking the paint. Wint is also unstoppable on offense, with him providing a quick shot both on the offensive rebound and off a carefully placed pass.
29. Carlos Cruz Flete | Teachers Prep HS
Carlos Cruz Flete comes across as a do it all guard. Flete can grab a rebound against both guards and forwards on defense and sprint the other direction for an easy fastbreak. Flete can facilitate the offense, directing his teammates and reading the floor to get an easy bucket somewhere, while Flete can also make athletic strides toward the basket to put the ball in for a layup.
28. Elijah Walker | East New York Family Academy
Walker has been the specific three and D player, shining this season for East New York. Walker can both take the ball inside on offense and roll to the rim or post up, while he can also space the floor and be a consistent threat from beyond the arc. On defense, Walker has both the size to compete against both the larger forwards and quicker guards.
27. Malik Cole | St. Edmund Prep
Malik Cole has shown he can run the offense this season at St. Edmund Prep. The junior guard has been terrorizing opposing players on the perimeter, stepping in front of lazy passes and putting pressure on defenders. Cole can run the offense and evenly distribute the ball efficiently and turnover-free, while he can speed to the basket and run screening rolls and pops.
26. Abdel Rahma Salem | New Utrecht
Salem has been a force in the paint on defense. Salem can make athletic moves to the rim which are unstoppable by way of verticality. Salem can easily put back his teammates misses while he can roll of his screens and rise to the rim against anyone. Salem can also run the floor and spot open teammates when called upon.
25. Jahi Mukoro Jahi Mukoro 6'0" | PG Boys & Girls | 2021 State NY | Boys and Girls HS
Mukoro has been a great set up point guard for Boys and Girls High School. Mukoro can both take the right shot and make the right pass but his best skill is driving to the rim. Mukoro also showcased his ability to start fastbreaks off of rebounds, and shoot both off his dribble and off the ball at an incredible clip. Jahi can also run the floor and bring up the ball, playing as primary point guard.
