Here is the Austin Rankings Series: 2021 Guards #16-25:
#16 – Luke Kiser | 6-2 PG | Burnet
Kiser was dominant this past season for the Bulldogs putting up a stat line of 14.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 4.0 steals per game over 30 contests. A smooth and high-effort player, Kiser excels at creating his own shot and finishing at the rim. An improving shooter who has both mid and three-point range, and can hit coming off a screen or on a pull-up shot. He possesses elite defensive instincts as shown by his 121 total steals during his junior year.
#17 – Jayden Guevara | 6-1 PG | Dripping Springs
His junior season was a breakout campaign for Guevara, as he was one of the key players for the Tigers’ second-place district finish (12-2 record) and playoff run. Displayed good control of the offense with playmaking ability with the rock in his hands, and was a lethal shooter from beyond-the-arc. He possesses good ball-handling skills with the quickness to separate for his own shot. Great court awareness as an off-ball defender. Earned All-District 25-5A First Team.
#18 – Andre Bills-Shelby | 5-9 PG | Travis
Bills-Shelby is a physical player who has developed a sweet mid-range floater to his offensive tool belt, in addition to his ability to hit open threes. He plays bigger than his size and makes shots near the rim despite contact. A really good athlete with great floor speed. He has very active hands while on defense and was a menace on that side of the court for Travis. Earned All-District 25-5A First Team.
#19 – Jaikeam Maxwell | 6-1 SG | Austin LBJ
Maxwell possesses great athleticism and shows that with his elite defensive ability on the court. A multi-sport athlete who also plays for the LBJ football program, Maxwell was a key piece to the Jaguars 25-5A district championship in 2019-20. He plays with great anticipation, and creates havoc with blocks and steals throughout his time on the court. Earned All-District 25-5A First Team.
#20 – Seth Ford | 6-2 SG | Round Rock
Ford is a leader on the court for the Dragons and specialized as a deep-range shooter with playmaking ability on defense. With a strong frame, Ford is able to out-physical his opponents and play through contact in the paint. He possesses great anticipation and leaping ability in the low post on defense, and runs the floor well in transition opportunities. Is a dual-sport athlete for Round Rock. Earned All-District 13-6A Second Team.
#21 – Durand Hill | 6-0 PG | Hays
A natural floor leader for the Rebels, and multi-sport star (quarterback for the football team), Hill can do it all at the point guard position for Hays. Athletic and has good short-area quickness, Hill has the ability to explode past the defender and get to the basket. Good shooting range and can hit the open three-point shots. Very strong and accurate passer, and possess great awareness on the court. He has a high basketball IQ and is a bulldog on defense. Earned All-District 25-6A Second Team.
#22 – Aidan Bailey | 5-11 SG | Dripping Springs
As the sixth-man for Dripping Springs, Bailey flourished in the role by providing a spark off the bench with his deep-range shooting and scoring ability. With a quick trigger and good technique, Bailey excels at the catch-and-shoot game and can catch fire from beyond-the-arc. He also has the “clutch factor” as he hit multiple game-winning shots for the Tigers this past season. With a jump into the starting lineup in 2020-21, Bailey could see his stock rise in the future. Earned All-District 25-5A Second Team.
#23 – Tyrone Haywood | 6-1 CG | Manor
Haywood was a major contributor for the Manor (27-11) team this past season and earned Defensive MVP honors for District 18-5A. With good length, Haywood can guard both backcourt positions at a high level and is stingy to let anyone by him. He seems to always be around the ball forcing turnovers and is good at finding the open man or running the floor in transition after a turnover.
#24 – Kade Locklin | 6-2 SG | Georgetown
Locklin excels as a catch-and-shoot, three-point sharpshooter who can hit from either the wing or the corner. In his highlight tapes, he is a defensive playmaker for the Eagles as he shows good anticipation and aggressiveness to get the ball, as well as good athleticism in the open court on fast-break opportunities. Earned All-District 18-5A Honorable Mention.
#25 – William Agnew | 6-3 SG | Hays
As a dual-sport athlete who also plays football, Agnew showed his toughness on the court as a hard-nosed defender this past season for the Rebels. He plays with grit and hustle and isn’t afraid to get physical in the paint. On offense, Agnew can play either wing position, and his strengths are his court vision and the ability to get to the basket to finish at the rim or in the mid-range.
