Why isn’t Niles Notre Dame 2021 point guard Anthony Sayles Anthony Sayles 6'2" | PG Niles Notre Dame | 2021 State #167 Nation IL getting more attention on the recruiting trail?
Anthony Sayles Anthony Sayles 6'2" | PG Niles Notre Dame | 2021 State #167 Nation IL has been the top floor general in the class since he entered high school. Currently checks in at #8 overall in the PHI 2021 Rankings. Explosive athlete at the point with the ability to get to the rim, push the pace, find others, and is a better shooter than he is given credit. Brings toughness and athleticism to the position. His recruitment has been pretty quiet over the last few months. Sayles tells us the only schools that he has heard from recently are Virginia Tech, Loyola, and Southern Illinois. Part of the reason for this is he is also a highly regarded football prospect setting at #9 in the quarterback rankings in the Illinois Prep Red Zone Rankings. Sayles tells us that the perception that he isn’t going play hoops in college is incorrect. He told us he is playing basketball in college. Period! He is open to playing both sports, but will 100% play basketball at the next level. Mid-major plus schools need to be all over him ASAP!
Who is on the move transferring?
There have been several prospects that have already announced they are on the move for next year’s high school season. The headliner is top 10 2021 shooting guard Isaiah Barnes Isaiah Barnes 6'5" | SG Simeon | 2021 State #139 Nation IL . He told PHI that he will be playing at Simeon next season after playing his last couple of seasons at OPRF. The smooth wing has picked up a ton of offers this spring. Jeffrey Oakley Jeffrey Oakley 6'5" | SF Corliss | 2021 State IL is another highly ranked prospect on the move. The #32 overall prospect in the 2021 class is an explosive slasher that can get to the rim. Capable two way player with his defensive tools. He made the move from Perspectives to Corliss. Yet another 2021 wing finding a new home is Rickey Woods Rickey Woods 6'5" | SG Bloomington | 2021 IL . The scoring two guard put his name on our radar last fall at the Spartz Fall Showcase with his three level scoring pop. He is transferring from Washington to Bloomington for his senior campaign. We are hearing buzz on several CPS underclassmen that could be on the move along with a D1 prospect from southern Illinois that very well might be looking at other options. Stay tuned to the Illinois transfer wire! It will be a little different this year than in seasons past as most of the time they debut with their “new” school during the June high school period. Obviously with no high school ball in June that will not be happening.
Where do things stand with Ramean Hinton Ramean Hinton 6'4" | SG Curie | 2020 State #181 Nation IL ?
Curie shooting guard Ramean Hinton Ramean Hinton 6'4" | SG Curie | 2020 State #181 Nation IL checks in at #8 overall and is the top wing available in the 2020 class. He was committed to SEMO where he signed in the fall before their coaching change. Since opening his recruitment up things have been a bit slow, but it is starting to heat up. Hinton told PHI on Thursday that a pair of in-state schools in Southern Illinois and Western Illinois have emerged as his top two choices.
