Henry Hurst Jr. Henry Hurst Jr. 6'0" | CG East Lake | 2023 State FL (East Lake)
Dionte Bostick is off to Murray State and Jordan Hillmon Jordan Hillmon 5'7" | CG East Lake | 2020 State FL is doing a post-grad year at Clearwater Academy International, but East Lake still has plenty to work with after a state semifinal appearance. 6’1″ guard Henry Hurst Jr. Henry Hurst Jr. 6'0" | CG East Lake | 2023 State FL is fresh off a very underrated freshman season. He had a 13-point game against Lehigh in a Class 6A region quarterfinal. In the Sun Bash (SUN) Championship, he had some gigantic buckets (13 points) in a 58-57 win over Paxon. For the season, Hurst averaged 6.0 PPG and 5.1 RPG and served a role as a core rebounder and inside slashing threat (61 percent from inside the arc). Expect him to take a huge step this fall.
Eduardo Placer Eduardo Placer 6'1" | CG Windermere Prep | 2023 State FL (Oveido Master’s)
Following in his brother Jose Placer’s steps, Eduardo Placer Eduardo Placer 6'1" | CG Windermere Prep | 2023 State FL is coming along at Oveido Master’s. The 6’3″ guard averaged 4.6 PPG as a freshman and grew three inches in height since last summer. He earned an offer from North Florida in August, the current school that Jose is at. The younger Placer is a heads up guard, very solid ballhandler and a talented shooter. In time with more upper body strength and more minutes, he will be an impact player. That should be coming soon.
Derek McCray Derek McCray 5'11" | SG The Villages | 2023 FL (Villages Charter)
The Villages has a lot of young talent and 6′ guard Derek McCray Derek McCray 5'11" | SG The Villages | 2023 FL fits the bill. He averaged 5.0 PPG off the bench and posted nine games with eight or more points including a season-best 21 points against Crystal River in the Class 4A-District 6 semifinal. A gifted 3-point shooter, McCray will be tasked to expand his game further this fall, but he’s certainly a special player already.
Bryce Harrison Bryce Harrison 6'4" | CG Apopka | 2023 FL (Sanford Seminole)
Bryce Harrison Bryce Harrison 6'4" | CG Apopka | 2023 FL doubles as a tight end/defensive end for football and a forward for the Sanford Seminole basketball team. The 6’4″ athlete is Shaquille O’Neal’s nephew and he has some real natural talent. In limited minutes for Seminole, the Class 7A state runner-up, Harrison hit a 3-pointer late against Forrest Hill in the state semifinal. As he gets stronger and more aggressive, he will be just fine in whichever sport he chooses to run with.
George Kimble (Brooks DeBartolo)
Sitting out this past season due to a knee injury, 6′ guard George Kimble is going to be a problem at Brooks DeBartolo this fall. Arriving from Carrollwood Day last summer, he is a determined young guard who is both shifty and explosive with the ball in and out of his hands. He is full of potential and it will be nice to see him fully healthy again.
