What came of those discussions was the most comprehensive and unbiased rankings in the Southern California area for rising juniors. This piece takes a look at lower ranked players who have a chance to rise in our next update, based on the expectation that there will at least be a high school season in 2020-2021.
Makaih Williams Makaih Williams 6'1" | PG Capistrano Valley Christian | 2022 State CA-S , St. Anthony – The 5-foot-10 shooting guard, currently slotted at 55, put together a strong season for the Saints as he came off the bench as a spark-plug perimeter shooter who filled it up from deep in a hurry. With team leading scorer Jadon Jones Jadon Jones 6'4" | SF St. Anthony | 2020 State CA-S heading to Long Beach State next season, more shots will open up, and Williams is the type of kid who will go and take them.
[player_tooltip player_id="970271" first="Kaih" last="Williams"] provided St. Anthony with a scoring spark off the bench.Ramsey Huff Ramsey Huff 6'1" | CG Corona Centennial | 2022 State CA-S , Corona Centennial – Our 58th ranked player made his impact as a defensive specialist during his sophomore season. The 6-foot-1 guard started a handful of games, but carved out an important role off the bench for the Huskies as a player who provided ball pressure and forced opponents into untimely turnovers, which Centennial converted into high percentage buckets.
Vincent Berlucchi Vincent Berlucchi 6'7" | SF La Costa Canyon | 2022 State CA-S , Santa Fe Christian – Berlucchi checks in at No. 60 in our most recent update and his size, skill-set and versatility make us think he’s primed for a big junior season. The 6-foot-6 forward has some inside-out scoring ability, competes on the offensive and defensive boards and just makes a lot of things happen with his high energy play.
Damian Ruiz Damian Ruiz 6'2" | SG Linfield Christian | 2022 State CA-S , Murrieta Valley – Ruiz had a big sophomore season in the scoring column, dropping a team-high 18.8 points per game and hitting a team-best 74 three-pointers at a 36 percent clip. We only saw a handful of games from our 74th ranked prospect, but with the graduation of talented point guard Jordan Montgomery Jordan Montgomery 6'1" | PG Murrieta Valley | 2020 State CA-S , Ruiz should have even more opportunity to put his stamp on the offense.
Landon Lewis Landon Lewis 6'6" | PF Harvard-Westlake | 2022 State CA-S , Harvard-Westlake – A little extra opportunity could go a long way for a prospect like Lewis, a 6-foot-7 forward who oozes potential. The Wolverines graduated three starters from an Open Division team, one of them being 6-foot-10 center Mason Hooks Mason Hooks 6'10" | C Harvard-Westlake | 2020 State #271 Nation CA-S , so Lewis’ size and length could be of value to head coach David Rebibo.
