Athletes across the state take a lot of pride in ensuring that they develop any way they can to garner the attention of college coaches, especially with how competitive the competition level continues to grow. It will be exciting to follow players as they continue to prove themselves when the lights come on.
Malik Rose Malik Rose 5'9" | PG Folsom | 2022 WA (Folsom)
Rose is a player whose confidence continues to grow. A well-rounded floor general who has a great feel for the game. A very unselfish player who loves to get his teammates involved. Rose is scrappy and can also get buckets for himself as well as he pleases. A player who will do anything needed for his team to succeed and an already quality defender. Rose is a physical player whose leadership skills continue to blossom.
Anthony Sierras (Antelope)
Sierras was an instrumental player for the Titans during there turnaround season and will be an even bigger impact player to finish out his high school career. A player who has great instincts on both ends of the court and plays with a high motor all game long. A well-rounded teammate who has really embraced the role of stepping up during big moments and big games. Sierras is a player who is playing beyond his years. The Titans standout loves to fill the stat sheet but expect a bigger number from Sierras next season.
Jayson Mathews (Grant)
The 5-foot-10 guard is a shifty player who loves to create for others off the dribble. The quick point guard who has a high IQ was a big part of the Pacers success this season. A player who was clutch during multiple occasions and does not shy away from the spotlight. Mathews can really handle the ball well and has great court vision. A player who is very dangerous in transition and is crafty with his finishes around the basket. Mathews is a threat with the ball in his hands but does a great job moving without the ball, making him even harder to defend.
Davion Wright Davion Wright 6'3" | SG Franklin | 2022 CA-N (Franklin)
Wright is a strong and physical guard who loves to compete. A guard who can shoot the ball well from deep but can also finish through traffic around the rim. A consistent player who continues to grow in all aspects of his game. Wright is a confident player who does not back down from any competition. The 6-foot-2 guard scored 14 points during his sophomore campaign but is expected to carry is a bigger offensive load next season.
Miles Byrd Miles Byrd 6'6" | SF Lincoln | 2022 State #174 Nation CA-N (Lincoln)
The lengthy 6-foot-4 guard can play. A player who plays with a lot of poise and has great skills. The potential that Byrd has demonstrated early on in his high school career has caught the attention of Division 1 coaches and will continue to do so as he is constantly getting better. A guard who has the potential to be a double-double machine. Byrd understands the game so well offensively and defensively and it has shown this past season as he ended his sophomore campaign with 12 points, nearly 3 assists, 6.4 rebounds, 2.4 steals, and 1.3 blocks. A player who knows what it takes to win games.
Gavin Martinez (Liberty Ranch)
Martinez is a junkyard type player whose role will be much greater next season. A player who can flat out shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor and when he gets going, it is going to be a long day for the opposing team. The 6-foot guard scored 9 points while making a league-leading 84 made three-pointers.
