Let’s get to know these five newcomers.
James Hall, Cleveland: The 6-foot-4 small forward made his debut at No. 103. Hall was Sixth Man of the Year in the league, helping the Blue Raiders finish the season 33-1. He’s long, athletic and active on both ends of the floor. Hall’s a great defender and shoots the 3 at a high clip. His recruitment is slow right now, but after a conversation with his head coach Reggie Tucker, it’s going to pick up.
Madison Peaster, Arlington: The 6-2 point guard debuted at No. 115. Peaster is coming off a junior season helping the Tigers get within one win of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He’s athletic, crafty with the basketball and thrives at slashing. During the 2019 season, Madison was named MVP in the district and made the All-Region Tournament Team.
Caleb Smith, Fayette Academy: Smith came in at No. 131. Despite missing 10 games due to an ankle injury, the 6-2 point guard still managed to have a productive season, averaging 10.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.3 blocks for a Vikings team that made improvements under first-year head coach Brandon Bradford. Smith is an athletic point guard with upper body strength. He just needs to improve on his shooting and ball handles. Once he does that, Smith will have a chance to move up in the rankings.
Amarion Jones, Westwood: Jones debuted at No. 135. The 5-7 point guard averaged 11.2 points, 4.7 assists and 3.8 steals for the Longhorns under first-year head coach Chris Adams. He was named First Team All-District in 2019.
Avionne Suttle, Overton: I have seen glimpses of Suttle due to him going back and forth to different schools. He will finish his high school basketball career at Overton High School under head coach Shelvie Rose. From what I have seen of Suttle, he’s a solid defender and a pretty good ball handler. Suttle, who came in at No. 160, isn’t one of those point guards that has to lead his team in points. Instead, the 5-10 point guard is one that has to be disruptive on the defensive end. Suttle can definitely do that.
