“Describe what the high school coach’s involvement in a kid’s recruitment typically looks like” –@pr0ia
This is a great question. It varies on the prospect, situation and the type of high school that student athlete attends. A lot of times you will see the initial groundwork and introduction to a kid presented by the AAU program. As the kid gets older, this is when the high school coach will then start to get in the picture as colleges are coming to open gyms in the preseason and offseason while attending games during the actual high school season which is when the high school coach will help guide his player. But as I mentioned in the beginning, depending on where you go to high school, it really depends as sometimes the AAU program will take more control and help the prospect.
“Why hasn’t Trevor Keels Trevor Keels 6'4" | SG Paul VI | 2021 State #18 Nation VA committed yet?” –@EmbracePaceUVA
There were rumors flying around that Trevor Keels Trevor Keels 6'4" | SG Paul VI | 2021 State #18 Nation VA was set to announce a college decision soon. After talking to different sources, that simply is not true as he is nowhere close to making a decision. The coronavirus pandemic might have slowed some things down during his recruitment but even if the world was normal right now, I still think he would be uncommitted. Something to watch for is his visit schedule when he is able to start visiting schools again. Villanova, Virginia and Ohio State all seem to be the leaders in the clubhouse for Keels.
“Who’s an underrated kid from the DMV that you think is being hurt by not having an aau season?” –@mattirving15
There are many possible candidates for this question but I am going to go with 2021 small forward Devon Savage Devon Savage 6'4" | SF Riverdale Baptist | 2021 State MD . This past season Savage transferred to Riverdale Baptist where he saw his production go up and he was progressing nicely heading into the spring aau season that would have gathered a lot of college coaches attention. Savage has a great jump shot but can also sit down and defend and keeps on improving his playmaking skills.
