Several of these prospects are stepping up to show they are primed and ready for the big time.
Check out this list and get to know them early.
RJ Johnson RJ Johnson 6'3" | PG Grissom | 2023 State #215 Nation AL , 6’5 SF, Grissom: One of those players who also would be considered one of the top players in this class. He probably projects more to the guard positions in the future because of his ball-handling skills and ability to shoot the ball from the outside. He is already an explosive athlete that will gladly put defenders on a poster. He is a willing and able passer who consistently finds teammates where they can be successful. Keep your eyes on this prospect as he continues to develop.
Keyon Burns Keyon Burns 6'5" | SF Central Phenix City | 2023 State AL , 6’3 SF, Central: A long and developing wing player with long arms and a desire to guard on the defensive end of the floor. His commitment to the defensive end at such a young age is very high level. He shoots it well from three and is very good in the open court. He is already playing above the rim as he is a very good athlete. The evolution of his game will be his ability to play with the ball in his hands on the offensive end of the floor.
Haaziq Loftin Jr Haaziq Loftin Jr 5'11" | PG Murphy Highschool | 2023 State AL , 6’0 Faith Academy: A highly skilled player at this stage who has the ability to attack the basket and create contact. He puts the ball on the floor well in one on one situations and makes quick and decisive moves in transition. Needs to dedicate to the weight room which will only add to his game. This will be a name that you will hear for years to come.
Whitt Sutherland Whitt Sutherland 6'3" | SF Haleyville | 2023 State AL , 6’3 SF, Haleyville: A shooter with size. He is very good at catch and shoot scenarios where he can set his feet and let it fly. Played the role of a shooter this past school season but with work, this offseason could develop in too much more than that. As mentioned he has good size and will only continue to grow. He has a very good work ethic as he is not afraid or ashamed to go hard each and every play. He needs to continue to work on his speed and ball-handling which will make him an even more efficient player.
Win Miller Win Miller 6'3" | SF Vestavia Hills | 2023 State #240 Nation AL , 6’3 SF, Vestavia Hills: I love this kids game. He is a fiery competitor who plays the game with an edge. He is not one to shy away from contact especially when attacking the basket. He has a nice first step and is very hard to stop going right once he puts his head down. He uses both hands very well at the rim and can blow-by and finish through most defenders. He competes hard on the defensive end frustrating opponents. He would more than likely fall somewhere in that top ten if this were a ranking because of his tough and mature game.
