Josiah Freeman Josiah Freeman 6'4" | SG Manassas Park | 2020 State #298 Nation VA | 6’3” WG | Manassas Park (#11 Overall)
Commitment: Western Michigan
Freeman was originally committed to Buffalo before decommitting and he recently announced that he will be headed to Western Michigan in the MAC. Freeman is an exceptional shooter from deep who has great form and range, he’s played against high level competition both in high school and AAU throughout his career and as he continues to improve his body he’ll become more of an all-around player on both ends.
Karl Chavis Karl Chavis 6'5" | PF Oscar Smith | 2020 State VA | 6’6” F | Oscar Smith (#28 Overall)
Commitment: Young Harris (D2 GA)
Chavis is a new age big that embodies the small ball big man role with his mix of athleticism and versatility on both ends of the floor. He’s a guy who plays way above the rim on both ends, he plays with a good motor and can stretch the floor from deep. With his ability to impact the game on both ends without needing the ball in his hands he should be a guy that comes in and will be able to compete from day one.
Mazae Blake Mazae Blake 6'2" | SG Hargrave | 2020 State VA | 6’2” WG | Hargrave (#61 Overall)
Commitment: Southwest Mississippi CC (JUCO)
Blake was a huge reason for the success that Hargrave’s varsity team saw this year as the Maryland native led the team in scoring, assists and steals this year. He’s a naturally athletic guy who can play on and off the basketball, he finds ways to score from multiple levels and he’s able to make plays off the bounce for himself and others. He’s a guy who should see a lot of schools interested after a few years at JUCO.
Eric Henderson Eric Henderson 6'7" | PF Olympus Prep | 2021 State NJ | 6’7″ PF | Atlantic Shores (#64 Overall)
Commitment: Apprentice School
Apprentice School continues to rebuild their program with local talent and Henderson is a guy who should bring great versatility at his size to the team. He has good ball skills and touch out to the three-point line, he’s an underrated athlete who has improved as a finisher and a shot blocker and with the way he’s improved over time he’s likely going to continue to do so at the next level.
Daniel Peterson Daniel Peterson 6'5" | PF Hayfield | 2020 State VA | 6’7” C | Hayfield (#92 Overall)
Commitment: Mary Washington
Peterson was sought after by almost every division three school in the state and beyond and Mary Washington was the lucky winner of his recruitment. The 6’7” big is a two way guy that’s a mismatch as he’s able to both protect the rim defensively and stretch the floor offensively. He has a college ready body and should get stronger and more athletic with time.
Nigel Green Nigel Green 6'4" | SF St. Christopher's | 2020 State VA | 6’4” WF | St. Chris (#96 Overall)
Commitment: Millersville (D2 PA)
Millersville continues to clean up in the state of VA and they get a guy in Green who could be a long term steal with his upside on both ends of the floor. Green is a long wing that can guard multiple positions, he plays way above the rim both in transition and in traffic and he’s really improved in his ability to shoot the ball from deep over the years. He’s the fourth commit for Millersville from VA this year.
Azaiyah Roberts Azaiyah Roberts 6'5" | PF Princess Anne | 2020 State VA | 6’5” PF | Princess Anne (#100 Overall)
Commitment: Mount Olive (D2 NC)
Mount Olive has always done a great job in the 757 area and they get another under the radar steal with Roberts who was a two sport star at PA. Roberts has a mix of physicality at 6’5” that allows him to play much bigger in the paint than he is, and he also has the ability to step out and shoot the three ball and put it on the deck making him a mismatch on the offensive end. He’s also an excellent rebounder with a good motor.
Calvin Thomas Calvin Thomas 6'5" | PF Tallwood | 2020 State VA | 6’6” PF | Oscar Smith (#101 Overall)
Commitment: Wilmington University (D2 DE)
Thomas is another brute of a big man out of the 757 who will likely continue to improve and play his best basketball down the road. He’s a strong post with great fundamentals on both ends of the floor, he can body up and guard in the paint and rebounds well and he has soft touch with both hands in the paint. As he continues to get his body right and improve his range he’ll be a guy to keep an eye on.
Tyce McNair Tyce McNair 6'1" | PG East Rockingham | 2020 State VA | 6’2” PG | East Rockingham (#106 Overall)
Commitment: Richard-Bland College
McNair had a terrific year for an East Rock team that was one of the best teams in the Harrisonburg area and he showed great improvement over his career. He’s a lefty lead guard with good size and athleticism, he sets the tone on both ends of the floor and he showed the ability to be a dual threat guy that can score it and make others on his team better. With continued improvement he should see some scholarship interest after a couple of years at RBC.
Nathan Kania | 6’3” WG | Hargrove
Commitment: Hampden-Sydney
Kania was the glue guy on a Hargrave team that should make for a very good culture pick up for HSC with his gritty approach on both ends and ability to shoot the basketball. He plays with great energy on both ends, he fights for rebounds and 50-50 balls and he’s a guy who plays the game the right way and can make shots from deep when left open.
